I have been a Gravity Falls fan since around 2017, and while nowadays I don't really see these arguments that often anymore as people in the fandom have chilled out a bit and now have more of an open mind, one argument I remember seeing a lot was that Mabel was a badly written character, she was selfish, she made Dipper sacrifice a lot for her and didn't try returning the favor, she is the only reason Weirdmaggedon had happened, and as someone who watched the show a bunch I disagree with a lot of these points. I can understand why some people might not like her or find her a bit annoying but I don't understand why she had such a passionate group of haters for her, so I'm just curious, what do you think of Mabel? Personally she is one of my favorite characters in the show and I think most of the hate is kind of overblown.

Well I like her for the most part. She was the funny and charming twin and adds all that zest to the show along with Stan. She did get kind of selfish and too emotional, but like, what character didn't? That's what I loved about all the Gravity Falls characters: None of them were perfect. Mable did get them into trouble, but so did the others. Dipper's obsession with Wendy and learning about the mysteries of "the book" got them into trouble. Soos being Soos kind of Soos'd things up. Wendy's laziness kinda got on my nerve when Mable was in charge of the Mystery Shack. Even Stan (dunno if I wanna add spoilers). The writer made all their values outweigh their flaws though. Mabel messed up big time at the end but remember other characters got tricked by Bill as well. Dipper went to save her because he needed her though, because they only really got out of situations together.

She's a good character. She had some of the best jokes in the series and her growth as a character over both seasons was nice to see.

I like Mabel, I don't have any strong opinions about her since she's a child character. They were both kids, that was the point imo.

Idk how people can blame Mabel for Weirdmaggedon, she was tricked by Bill into giving him something that belonged to someone else. Just like Dipper was prepared to give Bill (as himself, not pretending to be someone he thought they could trust) one of Mabel's puppets. Both were bad, but people justify what Dipper does and not Mabel.

I'm not going to get into Mabel-apologetics, but people seem to think that 12yos in cartoons/animes/TV-media in general are a lot more mature than they are.

Intensely frustrating character to watch. She's spoiled and is written to constantly get what she wants at the expense of her brother. I hate when shows do this sibling dynamic; Amphibia's was bette
