My little town continues to grow.

Tom Nook finished replacing my front door, so I was able to talk to him about expanding the house. I had been trying to decide between a second floor or a basement, but it seems the decision wasn't mine to make; he only offered the second floor. Okay, I guess after that's done we'll do the basement. It seems a little backward to me, but what do I know?

My first Public Works Project was paid off last night, so my second cobblestone bridge should be in place today. I don't know what project I will want to do next. I do want a third bridge, but I also want a police station, lamp posts, lighthouse, and a café. Decisions, decisions.

While I'm on the subject, I wish I'd have known more about what the set-up was before I started, but I had no idea I'd be the mayor and in charge of so much building. (Actually, that's true. I'd pre-ordered the game when it was first available and never really looked at the details; I was just happy to see a new AC game coming up.) If I had, I would have chosen a different layout for the town. I'm sure I can make it work, but it'll be a little tougher going around houses and ponds. At least I was able to purchase an axe from Leif at the Gardening Shop last night, so once the tropical fruit trees produce, I'll start replanting the trees.

A new villager is moving in today. There was a roped-off area saying that the space was reserved for Hazel. I actually knew her in my old town of Avalon, so I'm thrilled to see her moving in. Of course, she probably won't remember me, so I'll have to work on re-establishing the friendship, but that's all right. She's sweet, so it won't be difficult.

I took a trip to the island last night to earn some bells. I ended up with mostly beetles, but I did get a hammerhead to sell. I also found a couple of new beetles, a moray eel, and a whale shark for the museum. Blathers was thrilled! The money I earned was more than enough to pay off the bridge and put some aside for my house renovation. Unfortunately, the fence enclosure I want was available last night, but I'd already scheduled construction on the second floor, so I wasn't able to upgrade. I wonder when it'll be available again.

I've been talking to Sable every day and she's beginning to open up a little more. All in all, I think Salem is starting to become a lovely place to live.

Oh, yes! Remember how I was chuckling about Rocket's choice of umbrella and the phrase I convinced him to say? Well, it seems he has a real love of Lovely Furniture, too. I stopped by his house last night for a quick visit and he has the bed and dresser. I'll have to remember that, because gifts of other pieces might make him happy.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. It's always hard to know if people are going to read or not, so I figured the best way was to write as if it was a journal/diary and I'm just entertaining myself. :)

I totally get the bit about wanting to reset; I thought about doing it too, but I've invested too much time into the game now, plus I like my villagers and worried that I'd get some absolutely horrid ones if I tried again!
