according to the datamine, there are only 36 different types of gyroids. they can of course all be customized into a variety of colors, but there aren't that many of the little friends. it seems like way less than previous games, at least

i'm not complaining because they're super cute and i love the new designs! but i was kind of hoping for a tonnnn of them so i could spend forever collecting them lol
