I had initially thought we'd get a full (or almost-full) selection of styles and colours, so I was initially a bit surprised at the limited selection, but it does make sense not having everything available at the beginning. Although the starting hairstyles don't have my first choice, I'm glad there's one that I still like. I do like being able to unlock some more variety, though; it gives me another thing I can work towards!

I do believe we will possibly have Harriet/Shampoodle back in the game to change our hairstyles from the starting ones to new ones we have purchased. The amount of representation for different racial backgrounds through the hairstyles has sold me on this game - I am so excited !

The starting hair for the guys is really... lackluster. I hope there's another page that we're missing here. Since the other hairs are through Nook Miles, I guess they'll be quite quick to unlock though.
Still doesn't soothe my fear too much. There are two options:
1: You can just put on these extra hairs through your inventory or something.
2: You have to have Shampoodle style your hair to have it like that.
The first option is unsettling because there's no Shampoodle then. What other purpose would she serve? I guess she could be there for... exclusive hair later on? I dunno.
The second option is unsettling because we haven't seen Shampoodle yet, which hints towards her being harder to unlock and not really being an "early game" character. I'd be stuck with the ugly hair for like a month..

i love that we also have the option for facial hair now too!
i personally am happy for the replacement of shampoodle with this system though i wish there were more starting styles and will miss harriet. it doesn't look like unlocking them will be very taxing.

I hope that Harriet will have certain basic hairstyles available, and that the "special" ones will be unlocked with points. But maybe Harriet is more for things like special hair colors, facial hair, contacts, etc.

I like the beach waves or the straight style with it tucked behind one ear. Purple is definitely going to be my go to color and I'll do any objectives to get what I want lol

Yeah, I am a bit worried about this, it was honestly the reason I made the thread lol. I was hoping someone else had made a compilation with a great hairstyle I've missed or something. Looks like that one short female hairstyle I've been using in new leaf won't be making a return, I haven't seen it so far, I think.
I'm liking the revamped and new long options as well as the black hairstyles, though. I also like a lot of the new fashion options like coats, on that matter

I?m not thrilled by the starting choices either, but also not too bothered considering it?s still more options than before?at least we get to choose a style and color this time to begin with.

I think with how the Direct showed how much customisation options there are, people are forgetting that you'll still have to unlock certain things as the game progresses lol. I feel like it would be boring if every single character customisation and hairstyle was available to us in the beginning. Even in NL you pick your FACE option you like, your hair comes after when you unlock Shampoodles. Anyways, I do agree that a lot of the male hairstyles we've seen so far aren't that nice. I'm probably going to go with the wavy girl's hair on the very right.
Aw, my hairstyle of choice isn't available from the beginning. Oh well, I'm just glad that we don't have to wait to at least have some choice. Being stuck with the awkward pink style I was in NL until I could get Shampoodle was awful. (and I didn't have Wi-Fi back when NL came out, so... I had to really wait until I could get it instead of going to someone else's town, which I remember took forever)

I love the last choice for the girl starting hair. But once it is unlocked I will be choosing the pigtail one. I don't like the starting one though lol. I feel like Shampoodle will return and that is how we get the other styles that we can buy.

I’m pretty smitten with the new hairs and the new hair texture is amazing. The sheen is so cute!!
Also I really don’t mind having to unlock more styles, creates mores insensitive to chores around the island.

I love the new hairstyle with the fringe! It represents my hair perfectly, now if only they allowed us to do split dye, then I'd be sorted haha. I'm loving the new hairstyles and I can't wait to see what our colour options are going to be, it would be cool if we have a colour wheel but I assume it'll be similar to the Switch's Mii options.
