Happy Home Designer - Frequently Asked Questions (Got a question? Look here!)

Updated to reflect the Aug 31 announcement of the N3DS bundle in North America. Also updating to include DJStarstryker's info above re: not being able to get 7-11 DLC with a non-Japanese 3DS.

Which, by the way, I want to get this out there in case anybody is wondering: If you visit Japan with your NON-Japanese game, don't expect to get the DLC from the Japanese 7-11s even if you go during the limited time periods they offer it. Did not work with New Leaf (I live in Japan but play the US New Leaf), so I suspect it won't work with HHD either.

I know. It sucks. :(

-sad panda face- Then, they should make an American version of it. :/

thanks so much for making this thread! It's super informative and It gives me a better insight on what the game will be like! :)

I know. That is my exact concern. I LOVE the New Leaf 7-11 set, because those items simply don't have any alternatives normally. The HHD 7-11 DLC has NEW stuff too that New Leaf didn't have that will be super useful - they have a store kind of coffee pot, shopping baskets, and more. There's also a 7-11 DLC animal. You can see it all here.

This should be stickied for release IMO. Great work Voluptua!

This is neat :O
I cant wait for my mom to come back from Japan since she is gonna buy me the game as an early birthday gift :*>
If I get it before its released here I might be able to answer some stuff last minute haha
Also the Monster Hunter dlc looks cute. I might get it but I hope it isnt limited or something ;v; if its a card or something as long as it doesnt have region lock on it I might be able to get it (I can get the 7-11 set but again just hoping it isnt limited)

>< oh! The new things are super cute.

I hope we just need to go to nintendo eshop to buy to dlc and not have to go to that nintendozone or whatever it's called; I don't have my own car and I doubt my mom would want to drive me just to download something :/.

Even if you have a Japanese 3DS, you will only be able to get the Happy Home Designer 7-11 DLC if you are physically in a 7-11 in Japan. If you are somewhere else in the world, you will not be able to download it.

I cannot do the nintendozones either due to disability and no longer able to drive. Which sucks having to miss out on items only available that way.

All this info is great, but may I suggest adding the bundle announced for NA will not be including a charger? Some people seemed a bit surprised when they found out, and it seems to be a first that NA wouldn't include one >.< {so if anyone is planning on getting it as their first DS, they won't be disappointed}

Sure thing! None of the N3DSes come with a charger. I guess they figure many of us already have at least one (i.e., that many of the purchases are upgrades from existing systems). It might also be a way for them to zinkle a bit more money out of people if they've never had a DS before and need to purchase one. I'll note it in the main post.

Has it actually been confirmed that the game will be pre-installed on the N3DS/XL bundles? I've heard that the other languages on the box loosely translate to "download code" and NoA strangely hasn't confirmed anything at all. I guess the term "Full Game Download" confused quite a bit of people due to the lack of context. Not to mention the new anti-piracy methods they have; I've heard pre-installed games have a universal backer and easily allow people to install the game for free on other consoles, and it's possible NoA may be using a download code to avoid that.

BellGreen, Great question! I just checked NoA's HHD site and it indicates "full game download". I then followed a link from Nintendo's site to BestBuy Canada for pre-order info; on BestBuy's site, the specs for the 3DS bundle say: "Includes full game download of Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer (internet connection required to download) and 1 amiibo card". This suggests that it's not pre-installed and that you will indeed have to download it. Have updated the main post.

Has the game size or amount of blocks for the digital version of HHD been shared yet?
New Leaf is 6,000 blocks if I remember correctly. I'll need to buy a larger SD card if I do a system transfer with the N3DS bundle.

Judging by some of the information, is the day/night sequence like Hey You Pikachu?

If you never heard, the days never change until you start an adventure. Then when you return home after an adventure, the day ends. Does HHD work like that too?

I came to the thread to find out whether or not I should bother designing houses for villagers I don't like. This definitely helped, thanks!

Based on what you describe, it sounds like the answer is yes. Here's how it (generally) works in HHD:

You start the day by entering Nook's homes and are greeted by Lottie. From there, you can either call a villager on the amiibo phone (summon with an amiibo card) or go out onto the main street to see who's there. While you're out there, you can visit any public buildings you've designed or select your next client. If you'd rather visit a villager you've designed for already, you can do that too.

Once you've either summoned or chosen a client (or decide to redesign a home), your workday begins.

When you've finished, you return to Nook's Homes and it's nighttime. At that point, you can wander outside and explore main street/visit buildings, or visit a villager for fun.

Either way, after you're finished, you write a report in Nook's Homes (i.e., save) and the day ends. If you want to keep playing, your next workday begins.

And voil?! That's the basic version of how it works. Hope that helps!!
