I got a DIY recipe from a bottle i found on the beach. I have not crafted one yet, but i am assuming that is the mirror they mean?

When you go to nook's tent, there is an atm there! You can exchange 3k miles for colors and 2400 miles for for hairstyles.

I got the "cool" hair styles (I think that was what its called) and found a bottle on the beach which told me how to craft a mirror. I then placed the mirror in my tent and was able to change my hairstyle!
