Has anyone else reset for an island they like?

OK, so the past few months have been rough for me. I've been struggling to find "that" one good island I like and can keep. After much thought and looking, I think I finally found my island I really can stick with. Took me a bunch of resetting to find it, but it's literally everything I love about it. So today I'm pretty happy. ^-^

Has anyone else constantly reset for an island they like? Or are you one of those particular people who doesn't mind what island or island features you get? Just curious. c:

Someone here reset like 50+ times, didn't they? Some players are very, very particular about their ideal island. I don't quite understand it myself, but to each their own. I love my island (both good and bad) and would never ever want to reset and start over

We share these struggles.

I woke up at 5 a.m. and reset for a couple hours trying to find an island layout I was happy with. The silly part is I probably ended up with something I saw a few times previously. 🤷‍♀️ Originally my thought process was, "just choose one of the original four and play the game." Not sure what happened.

Most important was finding an island that didn't have both river mouths facing south and had a decent resident services location.

I remember all I wanted when setting up was that I could see a waterfall behind my resident services. I reset a few times in the initial set up and really lucked out considering how much some of the things I was way too focused on (starter villagers and native fruit and also how much land was available in the resident services section since that was all you had access to for the first couple days of playing) don't really end up mattering that much

I did some resetting for my island when the game first released. I was only looking for 2 variables (blue airport and peaches). It still took me about 45 minutes to get that combination. I was able to get a legit 3/19 passport even with the delay!

I didn't mean to be so picky about my island, but I guess you could say I reset quite a lot because I'm just trying to find something comfortable with, both the island itself and name. I'm not good with island names. 😔

Better question- has anyone here ever NOT reset at least once? I can't imagine just taking the first island 😂

I got lucky and got an island I really loved pretty quickly. I made one island the very first day but just couldn't get into it, so the day after the release day is the one I technically made my current island. When I reset the biggest thing was RS plaza location- it's RIGHT in front of the airport dock and I love it there. I have a little business district right in the front there and it's absolutely perfect. I also needed space in the back of the island for a forest and haunted house (a tradition of mine since CF) and the one I got is perfect for it! There's probably an even more "perfect" one out there, but I'm quite pleased with my current one.

I'm one of those particular people who doesn't mind what island or island features I get :) I feel like you can already change so much, so except for my RS placement nothing else bothers me. But I won't reset for that

I did lol I never played AC before and didn't look anything up online so resetting was not a thing for me

Hey hey! I just reset mine recently. I was gonna change my aesthetic and it’s the easier option for me to just start over, have someone hold stuff for me and then catch up to the current date rather than do a complete teardown of my original island (it’ll take so much time and money to do a complete redesign).

Resetting is not much of a problem for me because I’m not too particular about stuff. When it comes to map, I’m pretty flexible. Same goes for the fruit and airport colors so it’s not much of a problem. I also enjoy the start of the game and it’s always the most exciting part for me. I really wish we could have multiple islands but we couldn’t. If we could like in NL with each copy of the game, I wouldn’t have reset and would’ve kept my old island as well.

Ah, well, then it would make sense not to! I never did until ACNL, when you could really start having some influence over your town. I'd always look for a few places to put houses, and a place for the forest and haunted house. I knew right away I'd be resetting A LOT in this game until it was extra perfect- even if I could do a lot more to change it, I still wanted something good to start with.

I have 2 islands, and am resetting one of them today. I got to transfer my items I want to keep over to my main though, so it’s not bad.

I want to reset... like someone said it's very time consuming and expensive to redesign an island it's easier to just reset!!!!!!!! But I wann get a switch console so I dont have to get all the stuff again kinda.. idk maybe I'll reset but I'm worried I'll never find the right island

i reset a bit when the game first came out but that was more to do with wanting a specific native fruit than it did island layout - i wasn’t picky about my island at all, other than maybe the location of rs and how it lined up with the airport.

i’ve had my current island since launch and while it’s not perfect at all and i wish that i’d done more with it in terms of terraforming, i’m content with it ^_^

I made an island on launch day, and played with that for a week? Regretted the name, fruit and layout so much, I reset. A nice member here held my items for a few hours until I got the map and fruit I wanted. Haven't touched the game in 2 months, and am itching to reset my island and start from scratch, because I'm yet again not happy with the name, layout, airport colour and Nook Mile item colours. Seeing as things have gotten much cheaper (1:1 TBT:NMT???! I left when they were around 150 I think each), I'm THIS CLOSE to resetting.

I didn't reset at all. Just picked on I liked out of the couple listed and stuck with it since launch!

I didn't reset. I don't particularly care about having to have specific things (such as a long dock, etc.) but I got lucky and got a blue airport and peaches which is what I would have preferred to have. My RS is close to the airport but I didn't have any plans on how I will design my island prior to picking a map and now I've come up with a design that works really well for the position of my RS so I'm glad it's where it is.

I considered resetting but I have been finding ways to work around what I don't like about my island so I won't reset for a few years.

I helped someone reset recently and it depends on how much time you have and how dedicated you are to get the prefect map. If you have a lot of requirements from the native fruit, airport color, placement of RS and airport, river placements, rock size, etc. You'll have a bad time unless you got incredibly lucky within the first couple of resets.

Even if you get all your requirements you might find something you don't like about the map and you are back resetting again.

I wanted to reset for the starting villagers first and foremost. I wanted Dom and at least some decent uchi that isn't ugly, then preferred an apple or a peach as native. I was just lucky to get a layout that I really like and the Resident Service area is in perfect location.

I settled for one of the first 4, so without resetting :) (I haven't even done much terraforming, it's just a perfect island for me!) I don't know if I'd done that if I knew that the airport color was tied to the color of your nook miles objects, but so far there have been so many people here that are willing to help out with getting specific colors of items, that I haven't really missed having a specific airport color...
