Has anyone tried gifting a villager that wears glasses another pair of glasses?

I'm talking about villagers like Velma and Cobb.
Velma moved onto my island today. I find her super interesting but was wondering if you could actually swap out her glasses.

I think their glasses are on the character and can't be moved. For me, but I could be wrong, they will have glasses on glasses... do you understand what I mean ? D:

I haven't tried yet, but next time Audie is wearing her horrible sporty shades I'm going to try giving her another pair of the default white sunglasses she wears. I'm hoping that she will then use those as her workout glasses.

And I've seen people give Raymond different glasses, too. Cobb's "glasses" are apparently part of his face? I've seen him wear other glasses and they just go on top of his glassy, yellow eyes.

i wonder if it works similarly to hats, where they wear them for 1 day and display them in their house for the rest of eternity

^ I wonder this too! I'm so hesitant to give my villagers clothes and accessories because they never wear them again and it ruins their house

I gave Audie a pair of blue heart shades and she occasionally wears them, and it replaces her normal glasses. Whenever she does wear them she'll point out that she remembers that I gave them to her. I think she has it in her house and/or wardrobe most of the time.

i have gifted graham heart sunglasses and he put them on immediately and alternated between them and his default glasses for about a week before he put the sunglasses in his home and started wearing the black circular glasses that someone above posted him wearing
