At first, I was bummed with how there were such "boring" furniture and basic clothing items upon release. Also with how boring the game seemed. But after digging around in catalog lists and seeing inspiration, I'm starting to really like how creative I can get with my town. It's about loving the game for what it is and strives to be, not what it's not. It grew on me right before the update was announced so now I'm doubly happy!

Yeah, I get what you mean. I took a long time to warm up to decorating outside. Because it feels like the main feature of this game, I could get pretty frustrated/lukewarm about the game at times. I did not play the old games for the decoration, but I have been gradually warming up to doing a lot of it in this game. I am not good at it and it takes me a long time to finish my spaces, but I find that the ones that turn out well enrich my experience of the game.

Leaving the game for a few months and coming back has helped too. I could never do that in previous games without losing my connection to my island and wanting to start over. With this game, I have not rerolled at all. And after coming back, I have found that the update fixed the things that were ruining the game for me before.

Also, I have really loved the clothing and dressing up my character in this game. I still have not made any custom clothing and am looking forward to doing that in the future too.

Yeah, it'll never be my favourite Animal Crossing game but once you take it for what it is it's a nice way to unwind. Once I stopped viewing decorating and terraforming as something you can be "good" at, the game became so much more enjoyable.
