Yes gumbo is such a fall food for us~ We usually eat it when it starts getting cooler here, but of course it can be eaten whenever. For anyone who hasen't had it, it is kind of denser than normal soup, but not super thick like a chowder. It is made with a stock flour roux. Everyone makes it a little differently, so some people like it with more roux than others. It typically has either sausage, chicken, shrimp, crawfish, or sometimes crab as a meat and okra, onions for vegetables. Many people eat it over rice. It is a big staple food for Louisiana, so when people have gatherings its usually something that will be served there
I’ve been to New Orleans before and had an authentic meal of gumbo (think when I was 18), and I loved it. I’ve also had an authentic philly cheesesteak in Philadelphia before. Both are so great!

Ah, cool!
Fun fact even tho I live down here in Louisiana I've never been to New Orleans lol
I live in a small town and I usually ever go to more local ones, New Orleans is kinda far from here
i don’t believe that i’ve ever had gumbo and i had to google what it was before answering LMAO but now that i know what it is, it sounds yum and i definitely wouldn’t be opposed to trying it sometime!
Lol we literally just made gumbo and homemade hush-puppies a few days ago! We put a ton of home-grown chili peppers in it that made it intolerably hot. I couldn’t even finish a bowl. Louisiana would be both proud and ashamed of me all at once.
