Having more than one character on an island?

I had this idea cuz I have a huge blank space on my Island now of creating more characters so I could put houses down. Can my main enter them just to visit? know he can't decorate or move anything

The reason I asked this is I had the idea of decorating each one of the houses for an NPC.

Yes, you can visit the homes. Keep in mind you can’t adjust the lights unless you’re playing as that character though. Personally, I just leave the lights on in the houses. That way it won’t be dark when you enter.

That's awesome because for some reason I got all these room ideas for the NPCs because I was always kind of sad they didn't have their own homes
