I realize that there probably isn't much I can do to make it so I can have a better chance of getting the goliath beetle, but it's the only bug I need to get this month and I'm really trying to get it soon. I have checked the palm trees of my island every day since the beginning of June and I've never seen anything on them, so is there anything I can do? Like planting more palm trees or going to NMT islands, for example. Anything helps : )

If I were you, I would go to a NMT island and clear all of the trees, rocks, and flowers on the island expect for the palm trees on the beach. Then, run around the perimeter of the island scaring/catching all the bugs that appear until you find the Goliath.
It's on the rarer side but you'll find it pretty quick that way. If you time travel make sure your clock is set to a time that beetle can appear.

I don't time travel so lately I've only been playing at the times the beetle should show up (5 PM to 8 AM), but as soon as I'm able to I'll give that a try on some NMT islands since I have MORE than enough nook miles to be able to do so. Thank you!

That's good advice! I think there's also a random island you can find with lots of tree bugs, though it may not show up until July, when more tree bugs come out.

But, yah, make sure the time is correct- they only appear at night (5 PM-8 AM) and be careful running- if you run too close to the palm trees, you can scare them off before you get a chance to catch them! When you DO see one, make sure to sneak up on it (by pressing "A" and holding it- but if you have other tree bugs, you're likely familiar with that). Once you find them, they're not as sensitive as some tree bugs (like Giraffe and Golden Stags), but can still be trickier than a lot of others. The good news is- they're big and boldly colored. If you see one, you WILL notice it, and you WILL recognize it.

EDIT: Oh! And, if you're using palm trees on your island, be sure to have them spaced nicely. If they're too close together, it can be hard to see and catch them. I know I've had to move around a lot of trees because of that.

Yeah anytime I go and check on my palm trees I make sure to not run so I don't scare off any potential bugs, plus I know if I heard the sound of a bug flying away from me running I'd get mad so I'm trying to prevent that lol

Ugh, there are few worse sounds in Animal Crossing games then a palm tree bug flying away 😅 ESPECIALLY when the most valuable ones are out!

But I know I tend to run around a lot (especially in this game, with no grass degradation), so if I'm bug hunting, I have to make a conscious effort not to.

That's exactly how I am since I feel like I need to rush to get all my daily chores done, I'm not even sure why 😭 that sound already upsets me when I hear it but when I played CF last summer, that upset feeling was 10x worse for some reason when it'd happen in that game

So after an HOUR of doing what I was suggested, I finally got the beetle. Thanks so much guys!!

I get most of the bugs and fish at NMT islands because it’s easier for me since I can make the best spawning conditions (eh cutting up trees etc) unless, they show up suddenly while I’m working on my own island. I also don’t have any solid proof to this but I find it easier to hunt critters at the beginning of each month rather than towards the end. This is just basing from my experience.
