Help with FINAL character name decision please.

I was hoping you would comment! Do you feel like I'm trying to steal your name? It's very pretty, I've always really liked it. Are you using it for your character?

Edit: Just saw your signature where you have your character and island name.

I just named myself after Winona Ryder- so no, I don’t feel like you’d steal “my” name! If at all, I stole it from her, haha. It’s a wonderful name, but unfortunately not my real one (which I’m using in NH).

Winnie sounds like Winnie the Pooh.

LOL. I definitely thought of that too, but it doesn't really bother me.

Apparently when I was little I was super obsessed with Winnie the Pooh. My mom said I went around introducing myself as "Whitney THE Marie" (Marie is my middle name), LOL.

I’ve been seeing your character creator pics for a while now, and she looks like a Winnie to me

It’s definitely more casual and cute, whereas Winona is formal and elegant—do you feel more comfortable with either of those presentations? If so, I’d pick that and use the other only from specific Villagers.

As far as I can tell, you won’t be referred to as X from X in-game anyway*, so that combination specially would only matter if you wanted to use it outside of the game.

* neither the passport nor the friend list show the names in that format

Also, I like how Winnie could easily be a nickname for your rl name—it’s a nice balance between something related but still different. If you wanted, you could even have Villagers you dislike call you Whitney and then run them off the Island for disrespecting you!

Thank you for your opinion and observations Fey! I do think the cuteness of the character is very well suited to the name Winnie. But part of me thinks my passport should have her full name to make it seem official.

Either way I'll be called each version of the name by different villagers, so it probably doesn't matter to much in the end. I still feel pretty torn, but I think I'll be perfectly happy with either choice.

LOL I love the part about villagers I don't like using Whitney to disrespect me. I picture smacking them with my net..

I'm glad I didn't steal it, lol. But I think Alina is a beautiful name too! It sounds island-y and pretty.

I like the idea of the passport having the characters actual name, and villagers using nicknames.

I hope you're happy with whichever you go with!

I definitely see the appeal of that. The passport would feel more official that way. I could also see NPCs using the full name, and then villagers I'm close to can use Winnie.

Aesthetically speaking I'd really like Willow with your island name

I thought I had already replied to this, but I guess I was mistaken. I just wanted to let you know that I actually already had plans on having an alt character named Willow! It just doesn't feel "me" enough for my main character, if that makes sense.
