here we go: Sound is defined and motion waves hitting your eardrums, thus if nobody is there to hear it, it cannot be defined as a sound

In theory, yes. This goes with Newton's laws of motion, every action has an opposite and equal reaction. In other words, if something fell, it would make a sound unless someone could catch it. And, in this scenario, since there is no one to stop the tree, and there is nothing on the ground to cushion its fall, it will indeed make a sound, if no one can hear it.
 
yes, there are bugs everywhere... so they have to hear it.
