How come I'm not getting any hybrids?

I've seen posts of people getting few hybrids, like one daily, but me on the other hand... I'm getting nothing. I've hard white and red tulips planted next to Nook's Cranny for a week, nothing. White and red hyacinths in a checkerboard pattern... nothing. What gives? In fact, I don't think I've got any new flowers at all. I'm watering them daily, of course. Am I missing something?

That is tricky! With your setup, I'd expect that you would be getting at least 1 a day. The spawn rate for hybrids seems to be lower for a lot of people. The only thing I can think of...there's plenty of room around your red and white flowers, yes?

I got two hybrids today and I've been taking care of them about a week.

What's your set up for the flowers? Mine are in a checkerboard pattern with lots of space in between.

I *only* water the flowers I want hybrids from - if its raining, I say, welp, no hybrids that day because then everything gets watered so who knows which flowers are going to breed. Maybe that's part of the issue for you, has it been raining?

i think ive only gotten maybe 3 hybrids from my actual hybrid setups this whole time, and funny enough ive gotten way more hybrids just as random spawns from completely lone hybrids after rainy days

I had the same problem until I placed more flowers in general. Afte I had about 150+ on my island, watering two or three flowers almost always led to new hybrids.

It's all about the RNG. Everyone gives off "recommended patterns" but they don't always work for everyone. I've used multiple recommended patterns and still have only ever gotten one hybrid.

It's all RNG. You can be doing everything right and unfortunately sometimes may not get any hybrids at all.

Just keep trying. I got my first two today but i found a fully grown one randomly even though i wasnt watering those specific flowers, so walk around your island the day after it rains and you might find one.

i used to split up my hybrid breeding groups into little tiny sections based on what i was breeding. but then i moved all of them into one giant checkerboard and i just water all of them. ive been getting at least 1 (but definitely more than 1) hybrid a day since i've done that, and ive since broken off some of my hybrids into their own little group to breed. ive found that im still getting more hyrbids out of larger groups than smaller ones, so i think that Pecora is right that u need to have a lot of flowers to breed hybrids, but i think there's also a stipulation of having them really close together.

I actually did get a bunch of new flowers after it rained, but no hybrids, lol.

I have a few different patterns - the hyacinths are in a checkerboard, only touching diagonally, I have a bunch of pansies just planted close together, etc. It's just weirding me out, since in New Leaf you basically always got new flowers as long you had a bunch of the same species close together and you watered them. But I guess flowers work differently in this game, huh?

I tried watering just a couple to get certain ones for a few days and got nothing.

Yesterday it rained and today I saw that 3 hybrids are growing among other new basic flowers.

I’m thinking the trick is to water a whole bunch and you’ll get at least something.
