If anyone has dream villagers, how did you choose them? All of my villagers are of the same color scheme and species (dog and wolf). I love all of my villagers and this is the best set of villagers I think I’ve had in all Animal Crossing games. I think it’s interesting to see how people choose their villagers. I’ve seen food islands and fairytale islands with matching villagers. How did you choose yours? Obviously I don’t care much for personality types, as I don’t have a snooty on my island. I definitely love my current group though!

I've picked mine from favorites, but also the main thing that all of them have to be male.

My dreamies were Kid Cat, and Sherb. I love Kid Cat, since he was my villager I played in the Wii U game, I love his design. Sherb, well hes just adorable. But I wanted to find him on my own, which I found him on a material hunt

Im currently very happy with my line up, Ive got my favorites. Basically if I vibe with them, then I take them, but if I dont then I don't. I gotta get along with them,

However, my original plan was to use all my villagers I picked in advence, since my island was based on my novel. I spent a week picking animals to base off my chatacters

But that idea has changed, so now Im really only taking male, and villagers I get along with.

Appearences don't matter to me. I got pairs, and I gotta get them getting along, and if they dont get along then I gotta try something else

But all my current villagers get along with their partner, so Im happy with my line up. Also with them.

Well my first dreamie for new horizons was Tybalt. I found him by listening to a villager hunt and heard his name said. It got my attention because Tybalt is my favorite character from romeo and juliet. He's also my favourite to play in the sims 2 veronaville, and my favourite character in bare plays him in the show.
I saw him and he just looked so cool so I had to have him!

That was the start of my slippery slope into getting new villagers.

Since I had then got a new villager via amiibo (I bought his amiibo on ebay), I thought I would try out other villagers I thought looked cool through amiibo.

I set myself rules. I could not have more than 1 of the same species at the same time. And I had to have all 8 personalities.
That has stayed mostly consistent.

Since then I have tried out 42 different villagers and I think I have ran out of those I want to have on my island.
I think I've now narrowed it down to the 10 I want to keep forever.

So its been a long, time consuming, but very fun task!

did you get tybalt
I did indeed!
He is the one thing that has stayed consistent on my island this year. Hes built into my islands lore now. I'm never letting him go!
Even got a plush of him

I play normally. When I see one I like, I have them move in. That's about it. Never had any plans.

(With the exception of Chai and Marty from the amiibo pack)...who I intentionally did the thing to get.

I pick villagers based on how they look. If they are a Jock or Lazy I would not accept them because I don't like their personality and any villager that has like a weird or ugly design it just won't fit well with me. I want to look for villagers that fit my style that has my favorite colors like blue/black and green. Also their homes must have an interior that makes sense. Any outdoor interior doesn't count.

Also by the time I get a villager's photo I wait to make sure that they are thinking of moving or I use an amiibo to kick out a villager that refuses to go if it takes too long and then I allow more villagers in just so I can get their photo and repeat the same process.

I chose villagers with a soft pastel colour scheme (Melba, Lily, Maple, Deirdre, Diana, Etoile, etc.) I also try to choose species that would naturally reside in a forest such as bear cubs and deer, since that is my island theme. Etoile was a bit of a stretch but I just had to have her.

I had a plan before getting ACNH to get my NL favorites. The plan was adjusted repeatedly since initially I had no interest in any of the new villagers but then I found a couple on islands and I grew to like all (not sure about Reneigh yet). And while posting here, my opinion changed on a lot of villagers. Designs are what makes me like or not like villagers but bonding also helps too. I still want to have a lot of the villagers that I had back in Nl, so that is a mixture of bonding and liking their designs. Ones I want to cycle through I’d invite probably solely for their design and to get to know.

My general rule of thumb is: are they cute? yes. > Move in.

When I started I tried to rotate them out based on personalities for the reactions but couldn't be bothered befriending villagers I didn't like for the sake of a couple reactions I'd never use.

Most of mine come from amiibos, but I think I have two who I leave to move them on when I get bored of them, and then go island hunting for someone I might not have known I liked (or any that dont have amiibos. I've still yet to meet judy :/ )

I have a pool of villagers that I would have in/on my town/island no matter what. After that I just choose villagers that I like for whatever reason.

When I first started this game, I looked up a list of all the villagers and wrote a list of my previous favorite villagers, and a list of villagers that I find interesting.

I prioritized moving in my favorites, and now that I exhausted my list, I am at the point of inviting villagers that interest me.

mine were all some of my favorites from my two NL towns, although i'm pretty sure biskit and lucky both date back to either WW or CF -- NL was not the first time i met them. dotty and pompom are two of the dreamies i'd move onto a second island (if i had one), and that's because i had them both as neighbors in WW (my first AC game) where they were best friends.

there isn't really a constant between any of my dreamies other than that a lot of them are cats. i just like what i like.

i went into new horizons with a list of 10 dreamies in mind - most were some of my favourites from new leaf but there were a few who were new to me as well. most of them were chosen because of previous experiences with them but for the ones who i hadn’t had before, i truthfully chose them because of their appearance as that’s all i had to go off of 🥴. i discarded my dreamie list a few months back, though, as there’s so many villagers that i love and want to experience and i don’t want to limit myself to a specific group. i currently have 5/10 of the villagers from my initial list + am hoping to add in one more eventually but now, i don’t really have a set list of villagers that i want or any requirements for who i do invite, i just go with whoever interests me for whatever reason aha. i’m incredibly indecisive which makes choosing villagers difficult lol but while island hopping (the main method that i use for finding villagers), as soon as i run into someone that i can’t imagine leaving without, that’s how i know that i’ve made my decision. stuff like interior/exterior, personality and species don’t really impact my decisions - as long as it’s a villager that i like, that’s all that matters to me. :)
