How did you get into animal crossing?

my friend told me to grab animal crossing new leaf because she wanted someone to play with, so i went along with it and actually ended up really liking the game. it only got better from there because more and more friends starting getting the game at that point, and i would go their towns, call them on the phone and we'd just talk while we let our characters sit on the bench together. really fun times

i got wild world on my ds when i was ~10 and immediately loved it! missed city folk but have had all the games since.

my ex wife played it on game cube, but as i came together with her, there was city folk on her wii, so thats the point i started with AC, since then i played also the GC, DS and 3DS version of the game

fun fact: we are divorced now, she is with our youngest child in hospital, and while, we are writing each other about stuff that happens in our islands, sending items and stuff...

The series never really caught my attention until I heard about New Leaf coming out soon from a friend. I decided I wanted to see the series for myself before New Leaf came out so I picked up Wild World, and I immediately fell in love with it!

My town was called Wisteria and for me, there's no animal crossing experience like the first time jumping in. I was best friends with Hugh and Vesta, I hated Margie and had... a complicated friendship with Friga.

I hardly remember much, but according to the friend that told me about the series I was texting her all the time about what was going on in my town and how much I was enjoying it!

Spotty memory here, but I remember getting City Folk for Christmas in 2010. I'm 99% sure I got my copy of Wild World from a pawn shop earlier that year, but I'm pretty sure I didn't play it until 2011 (I remember it still having someone else's save for a while). I played City Folk once several days after Christmas and enjoyed it, but for some reason, I forgot about it for some time after that.
I'm pretty sure it was around summer of 2011 that I got hooked. I remember being in California on vacation and spending pretty much every moment I spent in the car playing Wild World. Maple and Kid Cat were my favorite villagers ever. Just thinking about playing that game makes me nostalgic. I had already played some City Folk by that point, but I remember really getting into it around early 2012. This was the exact time that a lot of information about the upcoming 3DS game started to come out. It was also around that time that I started getting into fishing and catching bugs. Yes, I almost never caught fish or bugs in Wild World for some reason... imagine that.
I don't want to be even more annoying getting into all of this, so I'll just leave it at how I got New Leaf on US release day and haven't looked back.

I was very small. I used to trade in games at GameStop and one of the days, when I went game swapping there, I saw wild world. It was one of the only games I could afford, and I’m so glad I got it! Back then it was for the nintendo Ds I believe?

I picked up New Leaf one day out of boredom because one of my friends talked about how relaxing and captivating the game was, so I did. Ever since then, I’ve been a fan of the series since then ^-^ I would like to get the older games such as Wild World or City Folk one day.

i was pretty young so i don't have the best memory of it, but my first game was wild world.. i must've picked it up because i thought the description and cover art seemed fun, and then it was downward spiral from there lol

My sister had Wild World. I wanted my own village. She ended up moving on, I kept playing. Would of done the same to City Folk, but the Wii was clunky, and my dad hogged the TV. Played New Leaf, but it was a bit too grindy for my liking. Can't wait to get New Horizons for my B-day in April. I've been reading tons of information on it, and watching loads of other people play it. I like how the house is cheaper to overall upgrade, and costs are split among bells, miles, and crafting, which can spice up the gameplay, and not just be the same thing over and over.

I did a search for ds games back in 2005, and came across Wild World.

I bought it, and turned it off without saving for some reason, and met Resetti. He was asking me to type in 'I'm a loser'. I typed in a bunch of abuse and turned it off swearing never to pick it up again, but I did.

Within a week it was officially the best game I had ever played.

Resetti is one of my fave characters. I only ever saw him when I accidentally didn't save, or ran out of power (you just lose track of that sort of thing), but every meeting was a treat. He just has such a manic energy towards doing his job, you can't help but like him.

My nanny (she passed away about 2 years ago) gave my little sister Wild World for Christmas? Or her birthday one year. I really liked watching her play and had my own character in her town. I ended up getting heavily involved playing the game, asked for my own, etc. We were really young at the time, in elementary school. I'll always thank my nan for getting me into such a great series, I enjoy it so much.

My step-sister was playing New Leaf when we were on a vacation trip without internet, and I fell in love with the game that I spent more time on her game than she did. I eventually bought my own copy of NL, and with time, she even gave me her NL copy because she didn't play anymore, and I offered this copy to my partner.
I can't believe I never played AC sooner, this is probably my favorite game!

My first game was Animal Crossing: Wild World when I was 12 (dang, more than 10 years ago now!). I actually don't remember how I even got into it. I think I just found the artwork adorable so I decided to pick it up. I was absolutely obsessed with it just because I had so much fun just going around collecting things.

I somehow managed to miss AC: City Folk, but the next game I played was AC: New Leaf. I got really into the decorating and the online aspect of it since I was old enough to actually understand these areas of the game. I also got my mom into the game and we had a lot of fun playing together.

When AC: New Horizons was announced, I got super excited and was immediately telling my friends to buy the game. With every game, I've just found more and more things to love about it.

I don't like the idea of being punished in my own offline game that, in no way affects nintendo or anyone else.

In NL, my biggest regret was building the surveillance center, though I did like sending him off in that rocket underground. That was very rewarding. :)

Sometime in early 2013 my mom bought me a 3DS for my birthday. One of my first games on the console was Pokémon X and I was obsessed with adding people to check out all of the cool friend safari’s that people had. Eventually I started noticing a lot of people were playing a game called Animal Crossing New Leaf, which seemed like a super weird name to me. I kind of just brushed it off thinking it would be some kind of animal splicing game or something, but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I looked it up. The gameplay looked super cute and cool so I saved up and got it, then proceeded to play it every single day or nearly three years straight before I finally got bored

My brother who's 5 years older; It was Gamecube in 2001. It basically just was something I grew up on and I've played every big title in the series since.

my brother and sister bought ac:ww and i ended up bumming off their files when i was 6 (2006) but dropped it shortly after ruining something(?) and became scared LOL
but i picked it back up around 3yrs later when i actually understood it then became obsessed with the series after. probably kickstarted my love for similar chill life sim games from then on

I presume you also hate paying off your loan to Tom Nook. It's a mindset. Animal Crossing teaches you life skills, if you let it. For Nook, it's money management. With Resetti, it's helping your memory.

Not at all.
I loved fishing and catching bugs to pay off the loans. It's very rewarding.

Being told to type "I'm a loser", when you already don't feel too good about yourself (this was fifteen years ago though), that I do mind. :(
