How do I use a keyboard for City Folk?

Getting nightmares of slowly typing chat text like "ur" and "i c what u mean" with the pointer. I have a compatible USB keyboard that I used on my PS2 way back when. When I plugged it in while playing City Folk, it would not operate. Am I overlooking something?

It sounds like probably your keyboard might not be working. All I have to do is plug mine in and start typing.
