I’m curious and interested about getting into Kpop. It’s kinda daunting to me honestly lol. What’s the best way to get into it? How did you get into Kpop?

I don't really classify myself as "into kpop" but probably by listening to the music?

I would probably ask some other people for advice on what to listen to though, I only really listen to Apink (lesser-known(?) group comparatively, I suppose... haha)

OK EDITED

start off with finding music that suits your current taste - kpop is an umbrella term and you’ll most likely find artists or groups that you’ll find end up getting addicted to. honestly just find music at your pace - or even experiment after you did. if you wanna get into a group/artist more you should try watching variety shows where they show their personalities more

another tip is to avoid stan twt 😳 that shix is toxic as hell

welp if you don't speak Korean than mess around watching Kpop
since you don't know what they're saying unless you put on subtitles then just seek out what sounds the best

if ya like boys then boy bands?

I got into K-pop mostly only because I used to have a friend that liked it (good times)

if you speak korean than I don't even know?

Blackpink comeback

Easiest way to get into a new genre is to throw yourself into a playlist or radio dedicated to it. In this instance I'd suggest something like kpopway.

Just find songs you like or groups with themes you like! Survival shows like produce 101 and sixteen really got me into ioi, izone, and twice, but they can be really realllllllyyyy long watches as well as over edited and exaggerated but you can really get invested in them and the members especially this way.

Honestly I got into kpop because of some artist I liked listened to lots of kpop and I started listening to some, I also was interested because one of my friends loves kpop.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of boy groups, dunno why but I love girl groups much more! Like seularin said k-pop is an umbrella term, there's lots of different variety of songs that can be considered "kpop" or are just labeled as such because they're korean. I have what I think to be a pretty ranged taste in music so I'm sure you can find something you like!

I actually made this playlist to make my boyfriend listen to kpop so give it a try if you want, maybe put it on shuffle

If you find a sub genre or type of kpop you like lmk and I can try to find you some groups or songs you might like!

had a couple friends introduce me to groups in like 2015 and i've been listening since

honestly its just tryna find a group that fits your style and then you can move from there

I got into it when I saw someone on youtube react to kpop like 3 years ago and all I remembered was bts from the video. Ever since then I ive been an army and after awhile I started listening to other artists. I also watch some shows that they go on like weekly idol

To get into a new genre I think you should just try to find artists that suit your taste in music

I used to listen to jrock and I came across the TRAX at one time and it made me curious if the sound would be the same as Japanese rock or not. But how do I explain this I didn't check kpop immediately instead I came across a Korean drama back in the beginning of August (a couple of months after my curiosity) and it caught my eye at that time I saw Shinhwa on TV as well and luckily remembered their name. (this was back in 2006 oof) Eventually I told myself I'll check out Korean music when I have time. I came across Super Junior's 'Miracle' and I just went from there and here I am sigh lmao. I don't like it as much but I still listen whenever an artist I like drops something new. Also I stayed for the d r a m a you know what I'm saying.

Honestly, I haven't a clue. My sister is so into it, and I just don't get it. I have a much more mellow and nuanced taste in music, given that I listen to a fair bit of indie folk music, and the pop scene just isn't my sort of culture.

it began with me getting interested in bts bc some of my friends were armys back in 2017. now i mainly listen to bubblegum pop / girl groups ^^
theres so many different groups all with unique sounds, thats what makes kpop so interesting to me. theres always something new to discover u know? [:

hmmm I think I might wanna try watching variety and survival shows and listening to music… I know Blackpink and LOONA (and BTS… and there’s another one? Red Velvet? I just remember the girls were realllly pretty), I know tons of girls and guys into kpop so I might just have to ask around

If you need recommendations lmk, i personally love Red Velvet, Mamamoo, BTS, Blackpink, Twice, Itzy, IU, there are so many more groups I love tho.

Just start a Kpop radio on a service like Spotify or whatever. Or just click yourself through Kpop MVs on YouTube. Or try "Kpop reactions" there.

My first instance with Kpop was in 2012 when BigBang released Fantastic Baby. It was a random recommended show on Youtube and the thumbnail was a dude with long orange hair. So I'm like, what the hell, and I watch it and it is still my favorite BigBang song to this day. That's basically the premise of it.

Fast forward to 2013 and Youtubers react comes out with React to KPop, BigBang "Fantastic Baby," Girl's Generation/SNSD's "I Got A Boy," and SHINee "Lucifer" were all there and I could not be happier. Each song had a different rhythm, vibe, individuality, uniqueness, and are all iconic in their own way. A few months later I find 4Minute and Hyuna (first 4Minute song being CRAZY and Hyuna being Bubble Pop <3) and I learned the dance (in my head) and still remember the steps to this day.

I listened to I Got A Boy a hundred times after that as it was just so new and fun, I snooped into their other albums and songs. This would lead into 2015 where I found BTS and the first three songs I listened to were "Boy in Luv" "Dope" and "Run."
