The question intrigues me because I see many threads where people ask for opinions regarding all sorts of stuff in their game. Which villager to invite/kick out/re-invite? What to do with the beach/plaza/marketplace? What is perfect for my main room/fountain area/paths?

I just tough it out on my own. It's probably a reflection of my behaviour in real life. When I have a decision to make, I look around, I do some research, I sleep on it, I overthink about it, then I decide. I tend not to ask people around me. I grew up that way, being the youngest child in a big family, where everyone was too busy to bother with a little kid. So when it comes to my game, I just play and make my own decisions, and learn to live with the consequences, good or bad.

How do you do it? Are some decisions too important to not ask for opinions? What's your decision-making process regarding your villagers, your island and your progress?

PS. Claude also said this to me today:

I just like to make decisions and problem solve issues on my own. When I do ask for help, I value an opinion I trust than the whole "what does the majority think?" sorta deal. I also like making my own mistakes and learning from them, lol.

Also that statue near your museum reminds me of that old Nickelodeon show, Legends of the Hidden Temple. That thing used to scare the heck outta me as a kid.

I make tough decisions on my own, because I value my own opinions the highest. Though, sometimes I need someone else to take a look at the situation and voice their opinion, so I can think about it and maybe reflect on the decision I want to make. I follow my heart to the fullest, because no one knows me better than me c:
As for animal crossing - I do the same thing, I just follow my best judgement and go with the flow of things, after all it's a game where you can easily change how things are ☺

I like to make decisions on my own in AC because in the end it's the best game to be able to do that in. There are also very few irreversible decisions you can make, so that helps. I did go into the game thinking I'd want to min-max everything but after making so many mistakes along the way, I finally started seeing it as the game it's designed to be, and I'm much more relaxed about it now. I was even able to take two weeks away from the game without quitting entirely, which rarely happens with AC! I think the more mistakes you make, the better with this game.

I just flip a coin (or roll dice) for most things... I've never been a good decision maker, so it makes for a (sometimes) fun way to try out doing stuff I usually wouldn't do!

Most of my recent decisions are island design based, but I don’t think about them too much. I‘ll usually have a surge of inspiration to build (real-life locations or seeing an area someone else designed). If I‘m liking my initial build, I keep and add to it. If not, I wait and try something different: classic trial and error. I have more fun trying to do my own thing.

There’s essentially no penalty for experimenting beyond having to spend extra bells...or time.

I prefer to make decisions on my own, but once I do, I have a friend I invite over to get feedback from. She does the same with me. We both know what we want for our islands, but a fresh eye can sometimes suggest a slight tweak that helps.

When it comes to designing my island, I make my own decisions then invite over my S/O for feedback. He's not the best at coming up with initial ideas, but once items are placed, he's good at giving constructive feedback (how to make the space more ergonomic, swapping item locations, etc.) I do the same for him and his island.

When it comes to choosing villagers, I just go with the flow (whose photos I have already and am comfortable with letting them leave, whether or not I invite the campsite/Mystery Island villager).

I make the decisions on my own depending on the consequences they make and which are less damaging

In real life though, i make the decisions based on feedback from friends and family and narrow it down to on my own

i typically try to make decisions on my own as the few times that i have asked for opinions, it didn’t provide much clarity for me and i was still struggling to make decisions aha. so now, i just try to tough it out on my own as the only person who’ll ultimately know what i want is well,,, me. and if it’s a particularly tough decision, i’ll think it over for a couple of days if possible, as i don’t feel the need to rush anything aha c’:

One thing I like to think is ‘will I fee bad for not making this decision?’. For example I’ll likely be kicking Flora out of my villager soon even though she was my first non starter villager. I really want Lolly so even though I hate to see Flora go i know I’ll never stop thinking about Lolly ever time I see her. Plus if I do have the sudden realization I don’t want Lolly anymore I can always get Flora back later :)

I always wondered why people couldn't make the reset or island name decisions on their own. Seems like a pretty personal decision.

TBH I always feel it's kinda strange when people ask things like "Should I trade X villager for Y or Z Villager?" "Should I Reset?"
I just don't get how they can not know what they want to do? Like if anything, deep down they know what they want to do, they are just procrastinating on doing it

So yeah, +1 for making decisions on my own

Considering this is one of the few things in my life that I can actually control with little to no consequence other than dropping my Switch I'm not about to ask others for opinions about what I do with my game

When it come to island design decisions I tend to just go with it then change it up as I go along. Sometimes just a small tweak can make a huge difference. On islanders leaving though I'm pretty carefree and if they want to leave they can, it's a way of getting new villagers to appear. I would have a hard time letting Ozzie or Tex go though

I'm one of the most indecisive people I know... but with the years, I also realized other people's advice or opinions don't really help, because in the end I'm going to do what feels right after going back and forth a thousand times in my head.

I often do ask my husband about island advice (he doesn't play), and sometimes I'll take it into account.... but mostly I just hear him out, and then do whatever I feel. 😅
