I use an open office document to play around with my collectibles. Seeing them all together makes it a lot easier for my dyslexic brain to keep track.
How do you plan your current and future lineups?

Edit:
Since making this thread I've started using google docs for it and it works way better. :)

I normally just go with whatever feels right. My most used one is my Lobo lineup. There was a time when I had ten Lobo collectibles, but I recently downsized to five. If I see a collectible that I like, I end up getting it. I won’t use it though unless it feels right at the time. Most of the time, I feel Lobo. Other times, I don’t even have a collectible lineup. It just varies. I’m not as into collectibles as most everyone else. I’m currently using my Lobo line, as you can see. It rolls right off the tongue, too.

You've made the 5 lobo lineup so iconic honestly

I usually think about a certain color or use the same background to start. I like matching backgrounds/colors a lot so many of my lineups reflect that. For example, my current one is a little bit of background matching while sticking to a blue color scheme.

I love the icy blue theme you have going and the backgrounds make it come together like a quilt, very nice!
The background color is a big factor for me as well, I like to try to make a lot of little connections between collectables so they match each other in different ways.

I usually just find collectibles with colors I like and see if I can make a lineup out of them, usually not caring about dates. If I see a collectible I like for my lineup, I'll try to get it, even if it's way out of my budget.

You've got a good eye for what colors go well together. I love the blue and green, looks great with your current avatar.

I very tediously copy and paste them in to a comment thing here on TBT (without posting the comment), and when I have it the way I like it, I screenshot it and save the lineup

the star frags, jellies, ice creams, and bee/clownfish/dino plushes are the main cool things I have so most of my lineups involve them lmao

Haha I used to paste them into the comments to plan too but I never saved screenshots.
Also I love these lineups too. The pink and green is a great color combo and the bees match the swirl cones so well. Gives me major summer fun vibes, it's inspired.

I honestly just look at what I have and see what fits. I usually end up getting pretty lucky because I have a lot of collectibles and some of them just happen to have good dates (like my gradient feathers being in "rainbow" order).

Oh nice, I thought you planned that. I love it when things just line up beautifully.

The only line-up that I meticulously planned was the one that represents my two towns. I have collectibles that represent Sakura on the bottom row and collectibles that represent Nocturne on the top row. For this line-up, I was mainly concerned with having collectibles that matched the theme and color scheme in those towns. So other than the eggs, the backgrounds don't match, but I still think they compliment each other well. And most importantly, this line-up has special meaning to me.

I planned this by looking up dates and copy/pasting the collectible images into a line-up to see how it would look once it was all completed.

For the rest of my line-ups, I usually just scroll through my inventory and see what looks good together. However, when there's a big event and I'm able to buy multiple collectibles, I do plan the order that I buy them in advance. Like with the fair last year, I bought star frags in ascending and descending color order with a white star frag in the middle so I could do lots of different symmetrical color combinations.

I dont have many collectibles (because I haven't been here long and I sold alot recently for my Celeste) so I just kind of look at my inventory, activate the collectibles and see what they look like. trial and error. as for which collectibles to buy for future lineups, I just save the images and rearrange them on an app to see what I like and what is possible to make. then I buy the collectibles.

i don’t have the patience to make neat mock-ups like so many of you guys, i usually just start by making a collectible i like active and then look at the dates of it/others that go with it and try n calculate what would look cool together

I also do trial and errors for most of my collectibles since I don't like thinking and planning things ahead LOL. But honestly I try to get as many collectibles within each set as possible (e.g. star frags, jelly fish, wands, eggs) because it stresses me out combining collectibles in a row with totally different backgrounds, even if the collectibles themselves kinda have similar colors. Those within the set tend to have dates close to each other so it's just a matter of rearranging them within the row. ; w;

I rarely make a "scattered set" lineup but my summer lineup is one of the lineups I really liked where I incorporated different collectible sets into something cohesive. Eggs, sakura blossoms, a fair badge, popsicles, and Ruby! I was pleasantly surprised the collectibles fell into place.

I like to copy collectibles i like and arrange them on google docs normally

I do a combination of playing around in my inventory or in a word doc to figure out something I like, then I screenshot those and keep them saved in a folder.

I was really going wild with the camp collectibles to the point where they needed to be in a folder on their own 😅
