Personally, it felt like I had to deal with the remnants of last year's problems (mental health, financial, and relocation) and a few new one (city to rural small town culture shock). Overall, I think that my family and I handled our difficulties the best that we could; and learned a lot from them.
among the worst. some really bad stuff has happened and the problems are going to be long-term but all i can say to myself now is that if i keep going things might just get better
it's been a really weird year for me. it wasn't great but i don't think it was as bad as 2016 or 2017, so that's good! if things go my way in january 2019 should be easier
Honestly, it was pretty good all things considered. I met my boyfriend early in the year which was really nice, but my mental health took a sharp decline once the fall semester started and it hasn't quite recovered since. I'm lucky to have passed my classes.
The beginning of 2018 was really difficult for me, mental and physical health wise. But since then, I've been growing and getting better so I am very excited to see how 2019 goes so far, I have a lot of opportunities that will be starting up at the beginning of 2019! I hope everyone is feeling okay and that you all finish out the year strong just want to throw this out there, but if anyone is having mental health struggles, or any struggles in general, this holiday season, I'm open to any and all PMs. I'm all ears for you guys!
Honestly, I can't complain! I got a wonderful kitten, Cora, with my girlfriend and it has been a fantastic decision. I utterly adore the little one. That, and I got all A's for my graduate courses for the year. While most of my friends have moved away from me, distance has not weakened the bonds. Although depression has been hard from time to time this year, all in all it has been a successful 2018. I'm hoping I can keep the nice momentum going into 2019.
Is it my best year? Perhaps so. I'm in a loving and stable relationship after years of broken ones, I'm doing well in school, and I'm all in all in a good place. I'm not sure how it compares to 2014-2015 for me, but it's certainly up there.
Pretty average overall I think. I have made some steps forward, but otherwise it has stayed the same as 2017 or worse. As for steps forward, I've made a couple steps to becoming more independent and feeling less of a child. I have a permanent part time job and recently got my driver's license. Two things that I should've done years and years ago. Mental health has been kinda average, I haven't fallen into a huge depressive episode for a long time now, but my anxiety definitely takes the wheel far too often than I like. It was on a massive high from about Oct 2017 to about Feb 2018, but just slowly went down from there to a plateau that is just meh. Some friendships have grown distant, and some have grown closer. There's a lot of positives and negatives that kinda balance each other out, making it a neutral-feeling year I guess.
I'm pretty sure that this is the year that destroyed my faith in anything. I've dealt with so many personal deaths this year, including my cat who was my best friend. I spent the first 6 months of the year recuperating from my knee injury. I started the year with high hopes that I was gonna do astrophysics, and now I'm starting to realize that I'm not cut out for it, and honestly I'm not sure what I want to do now. I'm pretty sure my self esteem and confidence is at an all-time low. I also barely talked to any of my friends, only visited one of them once, and made 0 friends in college.
I guess sometimes life just doesn't work our the way you planned it to.
personally, this year wasn't great. the beginning of 2018 was a horrible ride for me, although, it gradually got a little better throughout the months. still, it can't beat 2017 or any of the years before it. if i had to rank the past 5 years:
Everyone says this year was terrible, but honestly this was one of the best years for me. I got validation that I could be a great leader in an organization I have so much respect for (a camp for kids with chronic illnesses severe medical conditions) I graduated from grad school and got my first real job where I am successful so far. I did have some family stuff arise, see my post in whatnamenow’s giveaway.... but overall I had some great things happen this year
Pretty okay overall?? 2016 and 2017 were probably the worst years of my life, and 2018 started out kinda the same way, but I think I made some good choices for my mental health this year and am overall in a significantly better place now
I've struggled with my mental health a lot more this year. It's been rough for me emotionally.
There's been positive events that have happened though, as well. I was able to reconnect with someone who I met years ago, and we're now close friends. He's been very supportive of me, and I'm grateful to have him in my life.
