How is the climate where you live?

Do you ever get tornadoes where you live?

We do at times, but I’ve never been in one because they’re not frequent precisely where I live. I know the panhandle of Texas has a lot of tornadoes that occur though. Texas is actually a really big state, so when I said “North” I meant more “Northeastern”. I should have specified. Sorry about that, lmao.

Do you have fall foliage down there?

Do you mean like orange/red leaves on trees? If yes then we do but not for very long I think. In fall (or Autumn as we call it) the main thing that happens where I live is all the leaves falling off the trees and just leaving them with branches. I just saw on the breakfast news that this entire weekend there is going to be heavy rain.

I love Minnesota! I've always wanted to go there! That sounds VERY cold! How did you deal with the cold snap?

well thankfully school was canceled 4 out of 5 days that week so i just stayed inside as much as possible and complained to online friends about how cold it was here lmaoo. i had to go to work one of those nights though. when the weather is that cold it's definitely a possibility that vehicles won't start, so i had my dad give me a ride there so he could plug the car in at home in the meantime. i worked until closing time so if it didn't start.. yikes
thankfully it worked out, but for the 30 seconds or that i was outside, the cold was absolutely frigid. honestly felt like i stepped into antarctica itself.

Right now it's warm and sunny, but not too hot. I'm posting this from my back garden while drinking an ice cold beer.

Autumn-spring is cold, wind, rain, ice, and snow.

I live in New England so it can be nice during the spring...partly cloudy, slight breeze, overall decent weather. Summer can be harsh at time(though probably not as bad as the south-west/southern US), Autumn/Fall is absolutely AMAZING here w/ the changing of the colors and all, and that nice slight chill that is a prelude to winter. Winter here can be just as bad as the midwest from what I gather...I love it though!!

I live in Eastern Oklahoma, and I really do not care for the climate. I've watched it change since I was a child. We used to have what felt more like four seasons, but over the years summer has taken over the majority of the calendar seasons of Fall and Spring, and Winter has been diminished to occasional cold fronts (without cold fronts, the weather in winter is in the 60s/70s, and on a rare occasion 80s. Yuck).

We haven't seen a real snow storm of more than like 2 inches since February of 2011. The climate has changed so much just since then. For both the winter of 09/10 and 10/11 brought us record breaking snowfall and blizzards. Even before that, snow storms of at least 5-6 inches would happen pretty much every winter. Now all we get are dustings. Eastern Oklahoma has become cursed or something. I watched so many storms hit everywhere around us last winter, but never us.

With the lack of winter storms you'd think "Well, at least it's peaceful!" Wrong, so wrong. This last May, there was a time period of two to three weeks where there was a constant barrage of tornado warned storms. We had to take cover every other day (not even kidding, I'm speaking literally).

I'm so scared of tornadoes, my heart could hardly take it. My family wants to move to New England, and I think we need to do it ASAP.

I live in Ontario, Canada. Basically, it's hot (25 to 30 C) from June to September and cold (-15 to 10 C) from November - April. May and October can go either way. January and February are the coldest and we usually have at least one or two deep freezes where the windchill is well below -20 C. It tends to snow a lot in February (this year we had like four major snow storms in February).

We never really have a spring which is sad because I love spring weather. It'll be uncomfortably cold until mid-May and then all of a sudden, like magic, it's really hot.

When I was 6 yo, I remember being afraid of ever going to Kansas because of the tornadoes. Anyways we once got a tornado where I live, which is pretty unusual, specially because it's very mountainous.

Yeah, I like cold winters and falls, but I could not imagine having cold summers as well. I would like to have colder winters :(.

- - - Post Merge - - -

Oh really? That sucks. What about the cloudiness?

- - - Post Merge - - -

Yeah, I've heard from other people that it used to snow more. That really sucks. Thank you for answering! I enjoyed learning about your climate! What about the January cold craziness? How cold did it get?

Ironically enough, when I went to LA, a heavy thunderstorm came, making me think I was a pretty rainy city lmao.

Whoops! Apologies for the late reply! My memory is a bit cloudy on that but the coldest it got was around -20C, feeling like lower than -30C when combined with the wind chill. Actually, back in 2013 or 2014, there was this ice storm that struck the city. Conditions were so icy that the roads were treacherous! To add it up, it also knocked out the power in the majority of the city. This also meant that me and my family had to put meat outside our house on a chair. It was that cold I tell you! Of course, the storm caused a lot of damage, knocking over trees and damage to some properties. Glad you asked!

I live in a fairly temperate climate. The summers can get as hot as ~100 F and the winters can get as cold as ~15 F, but generally no more extreme than that. It is quite humid where I live, though, so the temperature in the summers can feel anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees hotter than the actual temperature. We get a decent amount of rain, but only the occasional dusting of snow. We also don't have much in the way of extreme weather events in my area because we're surrounded by hills and mountains, so no hurricanes, tornadoes, or massive storms for the most part. There have been a few exceptions, but they're rare.

My favorite time of year is fall and spring when the temperatures are comfortable (~70 F), but we're rapidly losing those seasons. It's going from summer to winter and vice versa with very little in between the last few years.

Humid, and hot?

I'm in Canada and it's mostly just been overcast for me.

Overcast and hot? Or cold or mild?

- - - Post Merge - - -

extremely cold (most of the time -25 F) well this year we have had sooooooooo many ive lost count lmao but we usually dont or atleast haven't for awhile in years past

Can tornadoes occur on any time of the year? Or is there a specific time it occurs the most?

It's fine :). I've been to San Antonio, but I guess that is a very different climate than Northeastern Texas. Do you have fall foliage in there?

I always thought New Zealand would be very dry because it's near Australia. Then I learned New Zealand is even further south, and some Parts of Eastern and Southeastern Australia are temperate as well.

Can depend on the area. For example the valley. It can rain hard and the street s flooded but not a drop of rain will hit my area (i live near the downtown la area) and it'll just be cloudy.

Yeah, LA is huge. What about the wildfires? Do you get them in LA?

I guess that's perfect for you, specially because you don't get that much sun in winter.

I'm in London, England and it's been really warm and sunny here lately!
How hot does it get? From what I know, the temperatures don't change much from winter to summer, don't they?

I love winter as well, and would love to see the fall foliage some day!

That really sucks. I guess you have lots of tornadoes because of the flatness of the place. We've gotten few tornadoes where I live in Mexico (which is pretty rare for Mexico to have tornadoes), and it's very mountainous! I hope you and your family move to New England soon :).

Yeah, spring weather can be the best at sometimes, if it's not too cold. The sudden change from cold spring to hot spring amazes me!

Oof, that must have been really hard, specially because the AC heating system doesn't work :/. Is it dangerous to go outside on that climate?

Yes, there were icicles just about under every roof and power lines. Don't get me started on the sidewalks. Me and ice don't go well together so it's really really tough trying to get through by foot.

Its about 85F for the Downtown LA area. This is average at this time of year but our weather could be unpredictable sometimes. It not out of the norm for the summer like weather to continue till October or November. i'd say its been less hot this year, but August and September will be the judge for that. And Fall is usually wild fire season so it all depends on how dry and hot it gets. I will say that LA has good tanning weather lol our UV rays get to extreme levels so you will get a tan in like 5 minuets outside.

Yeah, we do actually. It's definitely not as pronounced as other regions of the US, but it does occur here. :)

They always say spring doesn't exist in the Midwest. Is that true?

usually correct LOL it doesn't even start to feel like spring to me until late april if we're lucky. honestly though every year is different, some are warmer than others. in 2012 it was 80 degrees in march while the following year we were still getting snowstorms in May, soo *shrugs*
this year, despite being in the 30s and 40s, all of the snow we had took forever to melt and wasn't gone until mid april. typically, snow and cold weather is still common in march/april, it just isn't the kind of intense cold we get in the winter months.
