How many packs do you have to buy if you want all 48 characters in series 5?

So, I was never a collector of the amiibo cards, but series 5 looks so cute. If, in theory, I wanted ALL 48, how many packs do I need to buy to get them all or even close? After all, they are randomized and you could end up with duplicates... yes? Does an experienced collector have an idea?

Previous series packages were 5 villagers and 1 npc, but those were series of 100 cards

Series 1, 2, 3 had 17 npc cards
Series 4 had 16

So if you are extremely lucky you would need 17 packages with no repeats to complete series, this is not very likely.

Series 5 is 48 cards 24/24 npc villagers so I doubt that they will follow the 5 villagers 1 npc ratio, because you would need to buy 24 packs and be extremely lucky.

If all cards are have the same odds of being in a pack, you would need 8 packs with no repeats to get them all. I you get 1 repeat, you would need 9, and after that every 6 repeats means an extra pack. 1/48 means each card has a 2.04% of being your pull, if you take them from the same pool without repeats, since you can only get 6 per pack and the next pack could have repeats, the odds are lower.

I would recommend you buying 8 packs to have 48 cards and trade your repeated ones for the ones you are missing.

Well... the thing that concerns me personally about series 5 is the fact that the label says there's 1 NPC in the pack. Assuming they literally mean 1 and only 1 like the previous sets, this is a problem because this set is 50% villagers and 50% NPCs. If you are in the US and getting the US packs that are 6 cards, you will get more villagers than NPCs and get more dupes of the villagers than the NPCs. This would also mean you'd have to buy a minimum of 24 packs for all 24 NPCs. Minimum, because this is assuming you get no NPC dupes (unlikely).

You might want to try to trade any dupes you get for other peoples' dupes, but keep in mind that it may be harder to trade for this set's NPCs because of them being rarer.

Oh I missed that, that is a bad move imo. but yeah with this info, you would need at least 24 packs to get all NPC, but with 24 packs and 5 villagers per pack, you will probably have all villagers by the time you get all npc.

you will end with 96 extra villagers cards.

yikes.

Yeah, trading seems like the best option there, especially since duplicates of the villagers will probably be hotly in demand. (Especially if you have gaps to fill in the previous series.) Even so, I expect special characters like CJ, Flick, and Wisp who don’t have previous Amiibo will be in seriously high demand, drastically more than the returning S5 specials. I have several Isabelles, even if her outfit’s outdated. You can probably STILL find Tom Nook and Blathers Amiibos on the shelves at a local Gamestop. But this is the only way to get the new special characters unless they decide to make a new Amiibo line (given the aforementioned ‘you can probably still find figures at Gamestop’ and the general slowing down of Amiibo as a line, I doubt it,) so those characters are going to be valuable.

Hopefully that means that there's a 5/6 Chance that one of the cards in a Series 5 Pack would be the one I want Most; AUDIE!!

I Don't want ALL 48 Characters; I just want Audie 1st & foremost; and I could care less WHO Else gets included in the pack. . .

Lol, I'm just hoping to get my hands on a few packs period, I suspect it's going to be a nightmare.... but, let's hope not!

Wow. These are so expensive. I'll probably buy a few sets and, if they don't have the cards I want, I'll buy a fan made one from Etsy or eBay.

Just remember that if youre buying card packs outside of USA you get 3 cards a pack, not 6.
