How much are you willing to pay for a game?

I really honestly already think $60 is a lot for a game. I know my parents bought me almost every single Wii U game over the years as gifts when they released but as I get older I'm more and more thankful for that. Switch games are just as expensive but are a mixed bag in terms of my enjoyment so I generally just wait for sales.

honestly, it depends on the game. $60 is steep, but then again, i paid the $70 for tears of the kingdom when it came out. i usually try to stick to games that are in the “sale” section of the eshop, but i won’t limit myself if there’s a title that comes out that i’m particularly excited for, if that makes sense. i may wait a bit to buy it, but i almost always just suck it up and make the splurge.

I usually wait for sales on games, especially on Steam. Switch games hardly ever go on sale and if they do, it's not much so if I want those games, I just bite and buy full price, but it's still a rare occasion. for Nintendo games that I'm not too rushed to get, I'll wait for the crappy Nintendo sales or grab it second hand.

i think $60 for a switch game is overly expensive. i bought animal crossing population growing for $80 and i was willing to splurge for that because its an old game, but for a newer game i think more than $50 is too much. so i’ll cap it at $70 MAX for new titles.

gamecube games are finally lowering in price. There are some titles that will never recover from those collectors hounding on them tho. Sometimes for something like acpg its not worth money cause you keep it forever

$60 is probably my limit. It really depends on what the game is. Some games are so full of content that it makes up for the price because I get a lot of time out of it. Other games are so uninspired or stripped that it doesn't feel like it's worth it at all. I never thought I would say this about Nintendo given their record of making decent 1st party games, but lately they've put out way too many games stripped of so much content that the predecessors are considered way better. Or pushed them out so full of bugs and glitches that they're borderline unplayable.

Lately in the gaming industry I think the corporate side of it is getting too out of hand and greedy. Pushing out games too early, core content missing that will be trickle fed, pay to play, ect. It really does suck that the last few years the mass not only deals with, but accepts that games will never be released complete. I shouldn't have to buy a game day 1 and wait for updates to fix it. Or have a physical game and have it take an hour or more to add 55 gb of extra stuff they decided to finally get around to adding to make the game actually work.

Depends. If I can spend 60 hour or more on a game ,I'll pay$ 60 or $70 USD.

Besides that no. Unless it's a franchise I love or if it comes with collectibles.

I’ll pay the price a game launched with if it’s something that I really want to play. After that I’ll get a game at lower prices when they go on sale.

The most I’d pay for a game would be like $80 (cad)
Anything higher than that I’d probably just try to get from my local library instead of purchasing

$70 USD is my hard limit and most of the time I'm not willing to even pay that much. Most of the games I buy are under $30. The only exceptions are major games that I've been looking forward to trying.

30-40 dollars....i feel like 70 is too much for a game, which could be used for other things or even a few games on a sale that'd equal to that price. i'm

I agree with others that it depends on the game. I don't mind spending a little more if I know I will get a lot of playtime out of it. I think $1 per hour of playtime is about what I like to get out of a game. But cheaper is even better!

Regular priced Nintendo games are by far the most expensive games I buy and I'm pretty selective when it comes to those. For PC games I prefer games to be $30 CAD or less.

$60 is steep for a video game. I think $40 is a good price point for a new game, but I don’t believe they’ll ever be that low again!

i will not pay more than $60 usd for a video game lol. we've been at this price point for a while and i know there are some that are a little more expensive, but when games start regularly costing more than that i will be finding other hobbies and only buying things during massive sales.

like with most people, it depends on the game, but at least for me, it also depends on what’s in the game and how interested i am in it!!

for example, i wouldnt pay 70$ for a game that im not interested in. but i would totally do that for sparking zero, which has a ton of content + i have actual interest in since i love dragon ball!!! <3

If I really really want the game, I'll save up money to get it, but otherwise the highest I'd go is around €60 for a new game, and €40 for other ones.

for every day price on new games, never. but you can still find even AAA games around 40-45 pretty regularly especially if you dont mind waiting a year or two after release

I think what a lot of people don't realize is even back during the SNES/64 days that games were like easily $50/60 unless it was handheld.

they were indeed. and given inflation, the relative price is much less nowadays. but it's a little more complicated than that.

sales and discounts on games were much more common and much better a decade or two ago than they are now. gamecube had soooooo many good games go player's choice for $20. like, no black friday craziness, no limited sale going out of stock.... walk into walmart or target and buy windwaker or metroid prime or mario sunshine for $20 or $25.

also when you bought a game, you got the ENTIRE game! no DLCs in order to play the 2nd half of the game, no characters or outfits or levels or weapons or anything else that you need to pay another $5 or $10 for. no microtransactions. if there were packs of cards to open or loot boxes or weapon upgrades.... that was just a fun part of the game. not trying to get you addicted to gambling hundreds of $$ on a game you already paid $70 for.

edit: also, what's that ad from!? some video game catalog? is that from uk/europe?
