Hi!

I was wondering how much TBT I should save for the upcoming Christmas collectibles.

Since I'm new to this forum since May this year, based on the previous events I participated in (TBT fair/Halloween/Turkey Day), I didn't have to spend on TBT that much for the collectibles since most of them were obtainable through events organized by the staff.

Based on previous years' xmas events, will there be collectibles sold at the shop where I would have to use TBT to spend on like with the black Friday collectibles, and if so, are they in the same range of pricing (100 to 400 TBT). Or I should be fine if I just participate in events?

Well l would at least save up in the 1.2k just in case or just 1k. There can be unexpected things in the next event with collectibles, but maybe.

I would say it's never a bad idea to try to have a good supply of TBT heading into holidays. While you can usually purchase collectibles with event currency, maybe you only have enough of the event currency for one of the collectibles but you like a second one just as much. You'd be in a better position to potentially acquire a thing if such a situation arises.

As for how much TBT to strive to have, can't say since not only do we not know what collectibles might be available, we won't know how popular, desirable, or expensive they'll be on the secondhand market. I'd put off trying to acquire anything specific until after Christmas, like I sort of think I want a Blue Balloon but maybe there will be something new unveiled at Christmas that I'll like way better. Seems more advantageous to keep your options open.

Thank you , you are absolutely right.
Knowing all this , I will keep saving and gaining TBT while at the same time not stressing about it too much 😊

I'm so glad to hear there's usually a special currency, I don't think I can get thousands of TBT in the time we have left. Perhaps spending down everything ahead of Christmas was unwise. 😂

Same here - i just majorly splurged all my TBT on the black collectibles and now i'm poor... gonna try to save up a bit before christmas just in case something gets dropped and is in higher price range, but won't stress over this as i will likely be able to participate for the event this year (for the first time since i joined this forum lol)

Based on my short experience here if Christmas will be treated like a fair there will be special currency. Though considering some smaller events have had us use TBT I'd say save a bit. I'm not doing good I just spent 1.7k to get my beautiful star boy

Unlike the TBT Fair or our Easter Egg Hunts—where the set-up is typically identical year after year and thus can be predicted—our Christmas events do not follow any particular structure. They have been known to use both forum bells and special currencies (sometimes both in a single year) in the past. I wouldn't suggest anyone try to make assumptions on how it will run this year because people might get upset if the answer turns out to be different from the one they heard!

While I can't answer if there are any new events, I think one thing to look forward to next month are the collectibles last year (aurora, snow bunny, yule log) being tradable. Right now they're unique and cannot be shared to others, but I believe they said they'll be tradeable this year. So if you're interested in nabbing some of those from other users, I suggest to save up! :)

That's great to know that they will be tradeable this year! Thank you for telling me! I especially love the snow bunny, but the aurora /yule log are lovely too!
Ok I will definitely save up !

Does this confirm a christmas event? 👀

This is excluding any potentially new collectibles for this year, which might be nothing.

While it's definitely a lot to suggest, I thinking heading into this Christmas season with around ~4k TBT is a really safe amount. It's speculated that some non-tradable collectibles (Aurora Rainbow, Snow Bunny, Yule Log) might become tradable or not unique this year. Not sure where exactly I heard that, but there is a trend of collectibles becoming tradable after 1 year of existance (for example: Christmas Gold Candy). So take that with a grain of salt.

Typically the Christmas collectibles beyond those three won't sell for more than 500 or 600 bells, so if you're not interested in potentially-newly-unrestricted collectibles from last year, around 1k tbt should be enough for most if not all the Christmas collectibles bought from other members. Christmas collectibles usually aren't like the Fair, where you might need upwards 20k-30k TBT to get every collectible of the year!

I see! Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed explanation! It helps to have a range of TBT I should be aiming for.
