In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a picnic blanket, and provide in-game examples. Also, I would like to acknowledge lPeachy's original thread. Their post inspired me to make this tutorial.
First thing you want to do if pick a color you want to work with and then create four different variations of it (preferably light to dark).
For this example I used a purple/lavender tone.
Step 1
The space were are doing to be working in is an 8x8 space, but instead of working on each individual space we are going to do some filling. Choose your second lightest color, from the top, of the grid, count 8 boxes down, and mark it across & enclose it. From the middle divider, count down 8 spaces and mark it across & enclose it. Switch your tool and fill up both spaces. Your screen should match similar to mine.
Step 2 Checkering
You will now be working in your 8x8 spaces. I work use my third color which is step dark than my second lightest color and click every other block for four spaces.
For the next set of spaces I will checker in with my lighest color.
*Note at the edges of each 8x8 grid, we double up on some ends to give it the interlocking look
Now using my third color again. I will fill in the white gaps.
Now I will start checking with my darkest color.
Step 3 Testing
Now that we have a great base, go ahead and save. This is going to be the design that you are going to make copies from to make your different edges.
Step 4 Creating Your Edges
For this example of edging I will work the top part of the picnic blanket. From the top, of the grids, count down 4 spaces and white them out across. See photo.
Now select your darkest color, and make some 2x4 from each edge of your 8x8 grids. I know that sounded complicated and weird, I will work on that language/wording later. Look at a close up of the photo and match the spaces! Yeah!
Now in your color palate, select the white space with a diagonal line through it, and fill in all the white grids, in your edging.
