Someone retweeted this TikTok video and if you have the jail bars and/or climbing wall and you line them up from north to south of your island, it is said that balloons will not float over them and will come to you. I haven't tried this myself, but if this does in fact work, I'm going to be really happy about this. I just hope that if this does work that Nintendo won't patch it out and make the balloons fly over. I'd be pretty upset. Anyway, I thought I'd share this with everybody here.

I've tried this on my long beach with jail bars, as something like this was posted to one of Rosch's seasonal DIY masterlist threads.

It does make it much easier in my opinion. Instead of having to run along the whole beach, I just run about a quarter of it and wait at the end of the wall for a minute if nothing comes by, balloons that have spawn will float over to you.

I think I saw a Reddit post recently where someone made this work accidentally by lining up all his villagers' houses vertically along his west shoreline. The balloons would all get passed down to the end of the line of houses, making the balloon grind easy for him. It's definitely doable, but a lot of work for relatively little especially for people with mostly finished islands.

Just tried it. Crafted 30 Jailbars (5 iron nuggets each x 30 = 150 Nugget used total). Can confirm that the balloons really go south until the end of the jail bar "wall".

Also, just to clarify. This wall only guarantees that you won't miss them by changing their flight direction towards you. This does not affect spawn rate. This just removes the unnecessary running.

Thanks for sharing. Very strange considering the fact that balloons will rise when trying to go over raised landscape.

If they don't raise to go over cliff areas, it's possible people won't get balloons at all unless they're on their south beach. I personally have made a single tier cliff wall around my ENTIRE island ( barring river mouths, which I cut off and built in front of lol ) and built inwards a few layers in fact, because I wanted to know if that was possible.

Seems a bit different if you just use furniture to do that than if you accidentally terraformed that way and preferred it.
