I don't know if there's a thread on this, so sorry if there is. Just wanted to know the most effective way to get someone to move.

Yeah, talking to them and becoming good friends with them seems to get them to move. Fuchisa and Gwen asked to move in my village and I only had the game for two weeks.

It's pretty backwards, but you need to become friends with the neighbor you want to move otherwise when they ask to leave and you urge them to go they will get upset and proclaim that that they are staying till you are better friends.

I personally think it's completely RANDOM. I've had Apple move out one day after I totured her with a hammer, Beau asked to move out although I talked to him every damn day and did stuff for him and Bianca moved after I ignored her for about one week. So neither being mean, being nice nor ignoring effectively helps getting a certain villager to move out (from MY PERSONAL experience) :/

If you get 10 villagers, one will most likely ping you to move out. I got Freya to move in not to long ago and someone wanted her so I've been trying to get her to move out for the past three days by talk to her a ton (until she didn't feel like talking anymore) and doing a lot of favors for her. She just pinged me this morning and leaving. Do not hit the villagers. If you've talked to your villager more than once after they've moved in, ignoring them won't work for a loooong time.

Well, despite what some people might say, there's no confirmed way to get rid of a villager, all "do X to get rid of a villager" is purely anecdotal. Having said that, I personally have had the most luck with talking to a villager once when you first meet them and then ignoring them until one of your other villagers tells you they are moving. I managed to consecutively get rid of all the villagers that I didn't want doing this but I still kind of feel like the game just randomly picks what villager it wants to move.
