How to Upload Avatar?

This is perhaps the newbiest question in the world. I can't seem to find the option to give myself an avatar in My Profile or Settings and I feel super lame. How do I upload an avatar for display? Searching for threads with this question already didn't help. ; A;

setting tab at top of screen, go form there to the left side of your personal settigns screen to choose Edit Avatar
