Hi guys. So, um, I am very poorly versed in anything graphic related and MS Paint is the only graphics program on my laptop. I know it's The Worst. I'm wondering if it's even possible to properly work with the sprites commonly found in signatures using Paint?

When I copy a sprite directly from the tumblr page and paste it onto a picture, it ends up having a black background. When I paste it into a Word document and then into paint, it has a white background (yeah idk why I would even try this). My goal is for it to be transparent. I tried to save one of the sprites and noticed I could only save it as a gif - ???? I don't understand why it's a gif when it's not moving? Anyway I went to some website to convert it to a png, but when I c&p'd that into the picture it still had a background.

My question is, is Paint just too unsophisticated for this, or is there actually a way to make the sprites transparent that I'm just missing? I'm not looking to download any other program at the moment because this is really the only thing that I would use it for. Thanks for reading :)

you can actually, it just takes research and a lot of effort. any program can be used with correct knowledge.

It's not the tool you need to worry about, it's the user of the tool!

I've stood by that quote my whole creative life. Always benefited me.

Hmm, ok, I looked it up and it seems like a time-consuming and imperfect process... BUT it is nice to know it can be done! When I have some time on my hands I'll give it a try. Thanks!

its had "transparency" added -- which is just the white blocks turned clear hence the different colour dress + eyes.

Totally forgot about this thread. I guess I was too excited that I didn't notice the little (or big) details were off. Blinded by my own enthusiasm, lul. Well I'm glad to know this before I went ahead and put in every villager~
