I know we are all stoked to have this update - I know I definitely am. Since we have so many features, new items, and new content, how will you be preparing for the update?

Will you be clearing out some land? Rethinking your interior design? Making a plan to tackle amiibo card hunting or buying older amiibos? Making bells? Creating a journal? You name it!

My prep includes:
~ Dusting off my online bullet journal (Notion)
~ Set up MeteoNook to be able to predict weather (for Gyroids)
~ Start making more bells
~ Rethink my villager lineup to make room for Azalea or Ione
~ Calculate how many nook miles I'll need from the clips in the direct and see if I have enough, if not, then start earning them

Let's share what we're going to be doing to make sure this update funner (if preparing makes it more fun for you!).

currently, i'm making a 2nd farm for my carrots, wheat, potatos & sugarcane for when i get them :D

I'm currently just resetting for that 'perfect' island layout, but taking a break at the moment due to some back pains making my arm cramp for some reason (yay, age? but probably because I threw out my back earlier this week lol). Sora coming out on Smash later tonight also doesn't help.

But I'm starting my new island on September 1st, and I'll just play day-by-day to unlock everything I need and junk and once I meet the current date, I'll go back to playing normally.

The extra bridges and inclines mean I can expand my river, which I’d considered last year and decided against to keep things manageable. (Which also means some hefty terraforming and replanting going on ahead of the update, especially since I’m freehanding this part of it. I think I’ll leave some undone ahead of the update for ease of access, or only finish it a few days before, but since the new waterfall’s going where two of my ramps currently are, may as well get them demolished and rebuilt.)

I’ve not done much to prepare as I still have a lot of empty spaces on my island that I was struggling to fill. Now that we’re getting a lot of new furniture I’m leaving them empty to see what I can and love to fill the space. Other than that I’ve tweaked a cliff to fit another ramp in and left some space to grow vegetables next to my pumpkin patch.

I have been getting rid of excess flowers, thinking about replacing Blanche with Shino (I hope her house also has a Japanese aesthetic since Blanche's is in the rock garden), and planning the remodel of the back of my island since I originally wanted a ramp going down to Redd's beach but had to cut that idea due to the limitations.

Also gotta find a place for the new ABD/storage shed but I'm not sure I need to incorporate it if it doesn't look good - I think I have a good system already with the pipes so that going to storage quickly isn't a huge issue, but we'll see! They can be convenient to have around if I find unobtrusive places for them.

the update coming motivated me to get back into the game and work on what I really want my island to be. this started with making the whole thing flat. I may or may not do a little terraforming eventually, not decided just yet. slowly working on moving everything into place... definitely need to make some more bells.

I would imagine Shino's home is Japanese themed. Even if it isn't what you expect, you could always do it yourself once you unlock the feature!

For my main island I have been meaning to change parts of it and this gave me motivation to so. I’m making an actual farm and moved one villager so far.
Trying to figure out my villagers. Still not sure on the last three but I know Chabwick will be one of them.

for my second island I moved the farm that was on the left of my island. It now has a bigger spot for vegetables. I now have an empty spot to fill with new items. My second island rep doesn’t have as many nook miles as on my first so will be trying to get more.

I've been doing a lot of cleaning up on my island. There were a few areas I didn't really like, so I have taken them down and completely re-terraformed them. I'm also cleaning up flowers and trees, that I placed haphazardly. I moved some buildings, moving the campsite to a new area, and the museum to a more accessible area for visits with Brewster. I also have expanded my farm area quite a bit! I'm leaving some areas somewhat empty since I'm sure I'll want to incorporate a lot of the new items. Lastly, I plan on moving my kitchen to the basement, since I'll have more room for food items in it.

Nothing at all really
Not even making space for crops as I love my island how it is
I will evolve my island naturally over time I like I did up until this point.

I will likely however make sure I have an empty plot for if I can't get tianshengs amiibo on day 1.
Going to go on a villager hunt.

I am clearing A LOT of space on my island. I previously had a large amount of space dedicated to my player house which I am now scaling back a lot to make room for other things, my farm area is going to be completely changed since there are so many new crops to add, my beach carnival is getting torn down as I wait for the new ride items.

I'm also doing a lot more Nook Miles tasks to earn more miles in preparation for the update, and I'm going to be buying turnips for the next few weeks so I can get some more bells as well!

I ordered amiibo cards for the special villagers I was missing like Sable, Saharah, Harriet, etc. so I'll be able to summon them into the cafe and also hopefully make houses for them in HHP. Really hoping we can do that for all special villagers that have cards including ones not in or being added to the game like Joan, Nat, and Chip.

On my island, I'm going to try to earn as many bells and NMs as possible between now and when the update drops. I've played every day since launch and I have around 50 million bells and over 200,000 NMs, which might be enough but more won't hurt. I have a big pumpkin patch and will replace several rows with the new crops as soon as I can buy them. Other than that, I might just rearrange a few things along my main beach to make room for the new storage shed. Maybe I'll try to reorganize the kitchen in my house, too!

I’m currently working on my new island right now. Mostly getting Resident Services built, catching the critters for this month, unlocking terraforming. You know, just the basic stuff for when you start a new island. 🙂

You're right!! Man, they gave us so much in the Direct I can't even keep track of all the new features lmao

MeteoNook is absolutely worth trying to figure out. I hope Nintendo doesn't ever change the weather patterns, because Ninji moved on from the AC datamining community (just sounds like they're busy doing other things) and their site would probably not get updated. It only took me about a week to figure out my weather seed, but I know it takes others a bit longer. It helps if you have a rainbow or meteor shower or other more unusual weather.

As for me, I'm mostly just clearing space. There's certain areas I've been unhappy with anyway, and even just from the new furniture we know exists I know I can make new and/or improved things. I'm also trying to figure out where to put my farm area. I've actually had a farm area even before the pumpkins came out last year as a place for my fruit trees. I had enough room to put pumpkins there too, but it doesn't have enough space for all of the new crops.

I am thinking how to redecorate with the new items we have seen, but I am not clearing out any areas yet as we are not yet sure how (quickly) we can get them and what other items are released. I have plenty of bells and nook miles, so no worries there either :)

I'm taking a break and not playing very much until the update is ready so I don't burn out on it again.
