I've been planning this whole time to get it physically but now I don't know if I should get it digitally, one of hand If I get the physical copy I can just move it to another console and get a poster, but I will have to keep switching cartridges if I do that, If I get it digitally then if something happens to my switch then I will have to move it to another switch in a more annoying way...But I can play at midnight with everyone.

I don't know.

What should I do?

Edit: Just bought it on the eShop haha.

What do you mean by moving it to another switch in a more annoying way? You literally just redownload it from the store.

Just as a friendly reminder the saves files for the Switch save to the console not the cartridge. So for save files it wouldn't matter if you had a physical or digital. Maybe somethings to think about is Do like having physical being able to touch the cartridge and switching it out when playing other games? If you got digitally do have the space for it?(Initially the switch is 32 gb and acnh is 6.7gb). Are going to sell or give away the game in the future? Do you want to have the game at hand at all times?(digitally you would, physically makes sure in your console). Whatever feel most comfortable to you, you should do.

I personally think digital is better. You can still play it on other switches, you can download it again easily, and you'll never lose it.
But I also don't like switching the cartridges out, so it's all a win for me.

Digitally will be more convenient. The only reason to get physical is if you plan on reselling or displaying on a shelf

As far as lasting goes, digital can last as long as physical, especially if you save a copy to your computer or other SD cards.

I got it physical for NL, and as much as I like having the boxes, it was soooooo annoying to constantly have to switch it out if I wanted to play another game! Also if I took it somewhere and didn't 'prepare' to take it with me, thats it. I couldn't play it! Also I lost one of my copies and therefore lost my save file. So I'm 100% getting it digitally this time!

Digital because you’re never going to get rid of it anyway, right? And if you travel with it you’ll never “forget it at home”!

Saw your edit about you buying it on the eshop- I am thinking about doing the same thing.

I too was originally going to buy the physical copy but then once I learned that the data saves on the switch and not the cartridge, I now think getting the cartridge is a little pointless. So I am most likely going to cancel my preorder/return the physical copy and buy it on the estore too.

I'm personally going to get it physically but only because I'm constantly paranoid about the eventual future when they close the eShop. But that's just me - I like having physical copies of basically everything I can have physical copies of.

I don't plan on playing it out and about, and I only own one other cartridge Switch game anyway, so I can't see it being too much of an issue.

Edit: Although, I hadn't considered the possibility of losing my cartridge. Much to consider.

As much as it's wasteful of plastic and other physical resources, I'm getting it physically. There's a certain nostalgia I have for a physical box and cartridge...idk. The one issue is delivery since USPS is probably not going to be able to be there exactly at 12 am and I'm probably gonna have to wait a number of hours before physical delivery haa...
