So I was holiday shopping for my bf. I got him a Palutena amiibo because I knew that he wanted it for a while now. I knew that it was an Amazon exclusive so I knew he wouldn't randomly find it in retail. I had a bad streak at keeping surprises from him, even when I try really hard some outside force gives it a way like a package coming when he comes over. Apparently he found an army of Palutena at Toys R Us. He called me and I basically had to tell him I got Palutena.

The worst part is that the back of the box specifically says "Amazon exclusive". I'm pretty salty at it.

That's awful.

Maybe there's a mistake. Are you sure the Palutena you ordered wasn't special in any way? Among the first produced or something?

Both the amiibo I got and the amiibo he found were supposedly original (back of the box tells you, if just a Wii U is shown it's original, if Wii U and 3DS are shown it's a reprint). Under the bar code of mine says "Amazon Exclusive" which apparently is a lie.

That really sucks. I didn't even know they started breaking retailer exclusivity?

It started out as an Amazon exclusive. It seems like most of the exclusives become less exclusive after a while. With the most recent round of rereleases many difficult to find Amiibo figures are readily available.

If you have an Amazon exclusive one, it's one of the first produced, not the second release/rerelease.

Honestly, store exclusivity is kind of bull**** anyway and it's better that Amiibo seem to not have it anymore. Be glad you don't have to go to 12 different stores just to get a certain plastic figure.
