Long story short, I stumbled accross MeteoNook, and I learned the weather is predetermined on your island by a seed that is randomly attributed to your island when it's first generated.

It took me a few real-life days to input the data in order for the software to single out my island's weather seed. But now I know what the weather will be for the next weeks or so. It's especially useful information because I like to play during snowstorms, at night.

I suggest reading the instructions if you want to start the process of data entry needed for the software to figure out your weather seed. But let's explain how it works.

  • There are a few patterns of daily weather possible. Each pattern has a name (like Fine01, RainCloud02, CloudFine02, etc.) and it will determine what the weather will be at each precise hour (for example clear at 6, cloudy at 7, clear again at 8, etc.)
  • If you look at the sky at the hour (for example at 7 o'clock), you will be able to easily figure out the weather is, but if you look at 7:30, the weather will be a mix between the weather of 7 o'clock and 8 o'clock.
  • Once you enter a few hourly weather for a day, the software then determines the pattern of weather for that day. The software is actually very good at it, telling you for example if you have entered enough hourly weather to single out the daily pattern or if you need to keep entering more hourly weather.
  • You keep doing this for 8-12 days, and the software is able to single out the seed that is setting the daily patterns on your island
  • It can be a tricky process, but I suggest using video capture you've taken in-game through the Nintendo Switch tool : it keeps the time for every screenshot or video you have taken.
  • Sometimes, if you have taken a capture around the half hour, it will be hard to determine what the weather is since it's a mix of both hours, but try to enter data you are sure of, avoiding entering guesses because the software will tell you it cannot find a matching seed if a single entry does not correspond.
The cool thing now is I know at a glance when I should be playing if I want to play while an intense snow storm is going on. Etc. Try it, it's time consuming, but fun nonetheless.

I've been trying to write down all the times I've had an official meteor shower to use this but Nov-Jan has been a dry spell for the showers and I gave up.

It's just too annoyingly tedious for me and I rather do other non-annoying tedious tasks, lol.

It drove me nuts yesterday as I did not understand that the half hour was a mix of both hourly weathers and the software could not find a matching seed after hours of deciphering videos and screenshots.

i haven’t and don’t currently have any plans to since i enjoy the surprise of not knowing what the weather will be like whenever i boot up my game. :’)

congrats on figuring out your weather seed, though! definitely sounds tedious and i admire your dedication aha.

I figured it out a while ago in June. I just tt back to the time I have my first announced meteor shower to figure it out after failing to do it for weeks in real time. I've helped other people figure out their seeds as well. With major showers, it takes about 30 minutes to get to around 10 seeds and 45 minutes to find the exact one.

I figured mine out months ago, through a combination of some Discord messages to know when I got Celeste, a Switch screenshot to know when I got my lone heavy shower and then just some patience for a week or two when I started actively tracking the weather hourly, where once I got some shooting stars that gave me my seed. It's definitely nice to know it, especially to know when I have any shooting stars upcoming, lol

I got it within, like, 10 minutes by using a heavy meteor shower and exact times, although my Switch time and the exact clock I was using were off by a few seconds, so I had to figure that out and factor it in. Would definitely recommend it, especially for collecting zodiac star fragments.

I had a bunch of seeds saved to meteonook from when I was trying to figure mine out, and then when I returned after a while I couldn't tell which of the two was my actually correct one. I think I deleted the wrong one unfortunately so I've gotta go back and try it all again haha - I usually just go through my screenshots and add in what I know. I've found it the most useful for getting those light showers, because my heavy showers are so rare that if I didn't use meteonook I'd probably not have any star frags

I spent 3 weeks logging the weather and getting no seed found before figuring out my weather seed with one heavy meteor shower. It's so useful for collecting star fragments.

I finally decided to try to get my seed last week. On my second day of trying, I used meteor shower minutes (with gaps) of the night before (about 30 minutes worth) and a special cloud that only appeared for an hour that day. This got my three seeds and I got my final seed by inputting one hour that it rained during. Data from three different days in total.

On my first day of trying, I spent an obscene amount of time trying to put in all of my rainy hours and shooting star events that I had pictures of. I input something wrong and had to wait a half an hour to get no results. Kept tinkering with it and waiting until I gave up in frustration.

Needless to say, day two of trying was much better.

My advice would be the following: keep track of special cloud formations, and only input some of your data and add more as needed. The program is much faster with less data.

Been trying, but it's really frustrating. I've gotten the wrong seed several times now. I've had to eliminate all shooting star times because even if I watched the sky like a hawk to get it down to just the minutes, it still was coming up with errors.

I figured mine pur during a meteror shower at the beginning of this month. I dont play often at night so I did it primarily to kbow when I wohld have the highest chanc for shooting stars ir Celeste. Then make jt a point to fet on those night. Oh and ince for the northern lights becaise I had not seen them yet.

no how do you do what ???

You go to the websight MeteoNook, and follow the directions for imputting your weather. If done correctly you can find your islands weather combonation. I find it easyies to do it during a meteroshower. It took me like 20 minutes. However, you can do it by recording regular weather but it can tale a few days

Omggggg I finally got mine. I spent a good 5 hours trying to find mine and did a bit of trial and error with about three potential matches before I got the exact seed. It’s because I kept messing up inputting my data and interpreting some meteor showers as light when they were really a heavy one. I curse Isabelle from withholding that information from me for one specific day. Lol.

I tried but could never get it right. i'd input weather info and eventually get no matches. once i got a match only to find out it was wrong. i'm not understanding how to do it with meteor showers. what i'm getting is you are supposed to count how many shooting stars, but is it per minute? per hour? and how can you really accurately keep track? i know i would miscount and mess it up.
