I Just Realised Something Terrible

LOL, My PC packed it in back in 2007 and I never bothered getting a new one.

This phone I've got has about 20gig of bloatware, and absolutely nothing useful.

I hate mobile phones because I'm always on one.

That's why the Nook Phone makes me want to throw myself under a bus. :)
I’m the opposite lol. Anything to do with technology I must have

i really don't like having to use separate peripherals to play a game, especially if it involved user made content like patterns. some day in the future we won't be able to use the nintendo switch online app anymore and then what? we're just screwed if we want to use an existing pattern without copying it dot for dot?

it's always a few steps forward and one step back with nintendo.

Maybe because I'm a bit older, but seeing phones integrated into almost every game now is a bit weird.
I'm not against the new feature at all, in fact I think its pretty cool but hmmm.

Sometimes I want to just throw my phone away and all my responsibilities and live like a savage on a island with animals.

I play AC to escape technology, and they hit us up with a mobile phone on a deserted island.

I want the old inventory back.
I was happy with that.

Well, I can't use the App either and hope that there will be a in-game keyboard and chat function. Otherwise, I guess I have to figure out how to talk with people when I want to trade items with them and such (I mean, it's an issue which you can solve, but still...).

We saw them typing on an on-screen keyboard when writing the letter. There is no reason to think that they would lock us out of one if they have one already programmed into the game. The app feature is probably more for convienience than anything. I am personally hoping that they will also let us use the app or plug in a keyboard to the switch dock to write letters. It would make it so much easier to do.

I like to get in and out of trades ASAP.
It was hard trying to type in NL.

It’s disappointing, but I’m happy that you can still type messages at all.

It appears that the app’s keyboard and voice chat functions are separate, so you don’t have to worry about voice chat being on while you use the keyboard. :)

I’m guessing they did it this way to keep younger people safe, which makes sense.

Like many other things, my feelings on this are “could be worse”.

As an adult, not a problem.

And since 99.99999% of kids lie about being 13+ and sometimes 18+ while on the internet, and also download any app they want, also not a problem.

Your Nintendo Account has to be over a certain age. If you had a subscription and were under the age cutoff and really wanted to chat, you would have to make a new Nintendo Account and buy a new Nintendo Switch Online subsciption... Unless you can change it, of course. Unfair on responsible kids who DON'T GIVE THEIR ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER AWAY AT EVERY TURN

I think the voice chat is 100% on the app and I'm not sure if keyboarding through the game is an option. The app itself is free and it connects directly to your Nintendo account via a log in. But yes, under 13, can't participate

So we have to use a mobile app to type a message to someone?

No in game keyboard?

There is an in-game keyboard it was shown at 6:56 in the direct and at 24:02 in the faq, the mobile app is just another way of utilizing another keyboard.

I think the main worry of this thread is during online play. Just because there is an in-game keyboard, doesn't mean we can make use of it during online, which is what everyone is worried about due to NookLink.

Likely we're all worrying over nothing, but its an honest thing to worry about at the least.

Ah, I guess I misunderstood stood, I heard somewhere the you can use a wireless keyboard to type (don’t know if you can use a keyboard with a usb on it)

Thank you.
I've got the direct downloaded and rewatching it for the umpteenth time. ^_^

Would have been nice if voice chat and texting was an in-game feature but its a non issue for me. I think I will just create a discord server and invite a bunch of players on to it to start a massive multiplayer hub, where you can connect and basically ask anyone to join your island or join theirs.
