So iCarly is the latest show to get a reboot. Definitely makes me feel old because I was a huge fan of the show as a kid. It’s only available on Paramount + which of course requires a subscription.

Has anyone here seen it yet? Does it live up to the hype? Is it worth the subscription?

I will probably end up subscribing but would like to know everyone’s thoughts.

Haven't seen it, but I feel the hype isn't really hype about the show being good, just "hype" in the same way everyone wouldn't stop talking about The CW's PPG. Looking at clips on Twitter, I definitely wouldn't pay money for it, unless you were already thinking of subscribing to Paramount+.

I’ve seen it. It’s pretty good honestly. I’m just sad that Sam isn’t in this one, but it’s completely understandable with what happened.

Wait, what happened?
I think it’s a bit too personal to post in detail and may be triggering to some, but something happened with her, the other actors and Dan Schneider about abusive behavior. It’s real sad.

I'm not going to buy a paramount sub just to see this reboot tbh. I was a huge Icarly fan as a kid but this reboot doesn't spike my interest, there's also no sam :(

Feel like the original show will still be the best, writing wise. Those 2000s shows and their writing were top tier compared to many shows we get these days

oh thats horrible :C

Oh, that is sad. Makes it hard to support the show knowing that.

It’s pretty good. I think it leans a liiittle too heavily on referencing the original, but it’s fun to look for all the Easter eggs. The dialog is pretty funny too, but sometimes it seems like it’s trying too hard.

I don’t really like Freddie’s daughter, though. She’s funny at times (especially with that iconic song for her scrubbing company), but I think they could have toned her down a little.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts! I decided to go for the subscription, and I really enjoyed it!! The third episode I didn’t enjoy as much as the first two. I liked the new characters but will miss Sam.

This pretty much summed it up for me. I do enjoy the call backs to the original series as I just did a re-watch so it's kinda fun. However, his daughter is annoying and I really think they could have done without her as character all together. I'm really enjoying it though so far and I'm excited to watch more. I think it will be a solid show.

Yeah! Like seeing Ms. Briggs on the hater board was a nice touch, and nothing could top the interesting reference, but I feel like they’ve spent so much time on those that I forget the show is even about the new web show. I know the original didn’t focus on it every minute, but it seems like more of an afterthought now.

I think Millicent could be a really interesting character, but I wish they fleshed out her backstory a little more and gave her some more dimension.

That is true though! I mean 3 episodes and only 1 web show which is weird since the whole thing is based on a web show lol. The only other thing I thought was off was how “uppity” Spencer seemed. Like, why is he actively proclaiming he’s rich and successful?? And his need for appreciation with his art, that seems very unlike Spencer. Again though, it’s been years so maybe that’s the direction they want him to go. Nothing terrible though. I do love them as older. I’m closer to them in age now then even when I watched the ordinal so it’s a lot more relatable now than ever. I do hope they put the web shows back in focus a little more.

Saw bits of it, I like the adult stuff they added and doesn't see too forced or cringey. Seems pretty good.
