Although the catalog machine in the Nookling's Store doesn't appear to have a problem at all, I actually have a better idea on handling catalogs. It appears that the Nooklings sell almost everything, but they do not sell clothes. Maybe they shouldn't be the only ones to have catalogs. We should get them from anywhere, not just the Nooklings.
Eliminate Unorderable Items:
The first thing to talk about is making items orderable. In the past four games, some items cannot be ordered from the catalog, and it gets annoying to get extra copies. What's even worse is that the sprinkler and lawn mower are unorderable, yet they are sold at the Nooklings store.
I'm actually thinking that items should become orderable no matter what, but only a few exceptions. In fact, the only items that should remain unorderable are the items that you cannot get rid of once you get them. The unorderable items cannot be sold to the Re-Tail, dropped in town, or disposed in the trash cans. Those would be golden tools, mannequins, and special prizes like ABD and Home Catalog Machine (next idea blog entry will discuss more of that). But the rest, should be orderable. This includes Saharah exclusives, GracieGrace furniture, island items, Snowman and Snowmam items, and the Sloppy series. Not only we don't have to repeat the same hard processes, but this will lower the duping rate done by the community. If rare unorderables become orderable, there's no need for those cheaters to dupe if they want extra "unorderable" items. Unfortunately, this may lower the value of these rare items. However, duping has already lowered the value of unorderable items on other sites, so having only orderable items (including previously unorderable items) won't make a difference, but it will prevent further cheating.
In fact, the only items that you can't order are the rare prizes, golden tools, mannequins, and anything that doesn't show up in the catalog (such as fruits, turnips, and fish).
Furniture Catalog:
The catalog machines should be separated into different stores. The first one is the catalog of furniture and hobbies. This includes furniture, carpets, wallpaper, stationary, and music. This catalog machine can be found at Timmy and Tommy's store after first upgrade.
Clothes Catalog:
The next one is the catalog of clothes. Over here, you can order tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets and coats, headwear, facewear, footwear, neckwear, accessories, and umbrellas. This catalog machine can be found at the Able Sisters, but it will not show up until the Nooklings upgrade their store.
Gardening Catalog:
Leif will have his catalog machine too. You can order flower seeds, saplings, and starts from him. However, they won't be on the catalog until they have been donated to the museum at least once. This will show up in the gardening section of the Nookling's store in further renovations.
Museum Catalog:
There is a catalog machine in the museum's second floor too. You can only order items that have been donated. Items that can be ordered are pre-identified fossils, pre-identified ore, gyroids, models, and art.
Home Catalog:
The final catalog is the home catalog. Once you have 80% or more items in your character's catalog, Timmy and Tommy will mail you a catalog machine as a furniture piece. On that machine, you can order anything. You can get furniture, carpets, wallpaper, stationary, music, tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets and coats, headwear, facewear, footwear, neckwear, accessories, umbrellas, seeds, saplings, starts, fossils, minerals, gyroids, models, and art.
This may not be the best idea of mine, but I'm writing it to keep my blog organized. Next entry will be about badges and associated prizes along with the badges.
