What would it be? Here are the rules:

1. This is for US States.
2. You can go to any city, but you can only stay in that state for the year.
3. This is in the case of tourism. If you prefer to stay home, this situation is not applicable.
4. This is a hypothetical situation. Money is no object.

I'd probably stay in Michigan since I love it here. However, I'd want to go to Mackinac Island, and not live near Detroit. I feel like it'd be really cool to live there all year long, despite how bad we get the cold and snow during the winter.

I would not mind being stuck in the state of Texas for a year. It offered so many diverse areas of interest to me. Plus, I lived in Texas in the past and would probably enjoy briefly living there, again...

I think I would choose Florida. It seems like an interesting place with a lot of things to do. Being from Canada, the heat might be quite a shock, but I could probably get used to it after a while.

If I was choosing a US state to live in permanently though, I would probably choose Minnesota.

I would either love to stay in Burlington or Montpelier, Vermont. They're both absolutely beautiful places. I plan on traveling there at some point in the future.

I would pick Hawaii! I've kind of been obsessed with Hawaii since I was 6 (possible because I watched Lilo and Stitch all day). I went there when I was 11 and it was absolutely beautiful, I would love to go back. Living there (hypothetically) sounds like a dream, my 6-year-old self would be on cloud nine. Plus the weather is definitely more to my taste than here :p

Was going to say I’ll just go to a different city in my state, but then realized the “you can only stay in that state for the year” part. Anyway, I guess I would like to visit Alaska. Never been there before.

Why not both? I never said you have to be in one city all year. Just one state. So if you chose Burlington, you can still go to Montpelier.

Maybe Hawaii. Its weather is most like the type I already experience, might be hotter but oh well. Hawaii is very pretty, even with risk of hurricanes or volcanoes. Any other state (besides Florida) snows and I am not down for that.

It would be Hawaii for me. My husband and I have discussed the possibility of moving there, but it's not going to happen right now. I know the OP says we can only stay for a year, so I would use Hawaii as a stepping stone to get closer to my ultimate goal of moving to Australia.

If I had to choose, probably Texas. There’s a lot I can do there (including my childhood favorite attractions in Houston), and it’s where I live.

A second choice would be Louisiana. There may not be as much to do, but I go there a lot.

Probably Maine! It's not far from where I live(Massachusetts) so I know how the weather will be!

I would probably pick Washington State becuase there is lots to do there and it is nice and cool

Anywhere with mountains, and I would want to go in the spring or fall.
Never left the midwest in my life. Meaning I have seen lots of cornfields, but no mountains...

Honestly I would love to visit any state outside of the midwest.
This country has some beautiful scenery, it's a shame i haven't seen most of it.

I think I'm leaning toward California in this hypothetical situation where money is no issue. California's not a state I'd want to live in because of the wildfires, droughts, and the high cost of living, but if money's no issue and it's only for a year, there's a ton of stuff that I would be interested in doing in California. I know a number of people living there and there seem to be a lot of sights to see throughout the state.

I guess a second option would be Alaska. It seems like it would be a neat place to go for a year compared to other options.

Not sure where else in the country I would choose though. New Hampshire would be a definite option since my best friend lives there and there are some cool places we can drive to from there in nearby states, but since you said you can't just stay at home and you're stuck in the state itself, I don't know what sort of stuff is in the state proper for tourism and so it loses some points.

Ideally I'd probably just emigrate to some other country though, to be honest.

If I had to move, I guess New York, seems interesting. However, I would stay where I live, California. Sure, there are wildfires in autumn, earthquakes (which I felt a few days ago :0) and being expensive but I like the weather and stuff. Nice and dry which I don't like rain and somewhat nice during winter if it's not that rainy. To be honest, California doesn't have a lot to do which makes me want to stay at home which I do like.

Also earthquakes. Scary but fun to experience in school as everyone goes crazy. Haven't been in a major earthquake (yet) and silently waiting for the Big One, especially after that Ridgecrest one a ton of people felt.

If we had to move, New York would be nice, cooler temperatures and snow! I really wanted snow and California is too hot for that.

Anywhere but Oklahoma.

Southern California, maybe? Aside from the wildfires and things, it seems like a pretty cool place to live. Lots of places to see there. Also, I'd rather live in a state that has a warm climate year round. The cold weather here just makes me feel more lazy.

Florida so I can meet all those infamous Florida men

Jk I’ve never been to the US before but my first picks for vacation would probably be New York, California, and Hawaii. Seems there’s lots of things I can see there
