You guys are gaging Brawl's... "greatness" by its replay value. IGN's obviously looking at everything; sound, gameplay, graphics, etc... so sure, by that logic, perhaps Galaxy is better than Brawl.

I'm gonna disagree, of course, but still.

I think their score is just fine. In fact, I was expecting lower, since Matt said he wouldn't rate it as high as Metroid or Galaxy. I was actually thinking they'd give ti a 9.3 or 9.4.

Gotta wonder, though, if Brawl might have a chance of getting into the Top 10 at GameRankings and Metacritic.

I doubt it.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is probably going to be a huge disappointment to me.

When were we talking about your personal tastes?

Gamerankings doesn't represent your opinion, last time I checked. It's a review aggregate, and currently, Brawl's scores range from 95 to 100. That's top 10 material right there.

Edit - And what's with the melodrama? "Huge disappointment"? Save the verdict for when you play the game.

Last time I checked, some site gave it a 9.3.

^_^

OK, 9.3 to 10.

http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/197771.asp

3 reviewers gave OoT a 9. And yet it's sitting at the top of the GameRankings list.

Your point?
Judging from recent videos, I'm probably going to give Brawl a 8.5.

My point? :|

What was YOUR point when you said Brawl got a 9.3?

To correct your mistake.

Oh boy... We're talking about GameRankings and Metacritic, not your personal opinion.

"from the videos I've seen, I'd give it an 8.5"

I hope that was a joke, because if you've got a review score in mind before playing a game... you shouldn't even review games period.

And guys, IGN doesn't play these games 24/7. They probably tried out Wolf and Falco once, didn't really bother to check out their moves, and assumed they were clones. It's an easy assumption to make if you just quickly glance at the movesets.

I think most people are going to but this game, review or no review. And an average gamer looking at the review will probably see '9.5' as a great rating.

Just like at some *CEN-3.0-SORD*ing videos of the game.
The single player mode looks really boring after a period of time.
I'm only getting it to play as Lucas.

"just look at some videos"...?

You say that as though I haven't seen any... seriously, man. Seriously.

I don't have any review scores in mind for ANY game before I play it. I always play it first and go from there.

And since when has singleplayer been the focus of Smash? IMO, it looks like a well-made Kirby game.

Multiplayer is going to be awesome even though I probably won't even play it.

Then why the hell are you buying the game? Smash is a mulitplayer-centric affair.

@ Koehler - Yeah, exactly, that was my point

:p Sakurai's behind Kirby, so the SSE reeks of Kirby as well

If you "love every single Kirby game", then what's with the SSE hate? It looks eerily similar to a Kirby game.

So wait, let me get this straight.

You're spending $50 on a game to play as one character from a Japanese-only Gameboy Advance release.

Uh-huh. That... makes sense...

"Similar"

Haven't you read IGN's review?
Yeah, I have, but I don't let their opinion become my own

:)

Yeah!

:D
I'm also buying it for the stage builder.

So are you already planning to give the game a relatively low score, because you watched videos of it, and you predict it will be "disappointing", even though you're not going to play what's easily the best part of the game...

Well, you must have a lot of money to spend, then.

Seriously, if you're buying Brawl KNOWING it's going to be a "huge disappointment", and the only reason you're getting it is to play as ONE character and to make a stage or two, you might want to reconsider the purchase.
