Ignore This

Good thing the Manneken Pis isn't in this game. People might have tried to cancel Nintendo for that, despite it being in previous AC games. It gets passed ESRB because it's art. I suspect in the next game that statue won't make a return or they'll put a leaf over his family jewels.

it got "past" the esrb because it's one of the most famous statues in the entire world. nudity isn't inherently sexual, i'm not sure what the issue here is if i'm being honest. roughly half of the population have anatomy like that

Such a shame. I really love historical related furniture including art :/.

imagine being a grown ass adult and seeing the wang on a historically famous statue and reacting worse than an actual child probably would

I was just thinking this. How can anyone see a depiction of Michelangelo's statue of David and laugh? Actually laugh?

Maybe people who eat Thanksgiving dinner on the couch are different than the rest of us??

I mean, to be fair, my Nana would've started giggling uncontrollably. She loved a good... joke. May she rest in peace 😇

Anyway, I'm guessing it's been okay to include in all these games because it's classic art. It's a classic image that appears on countless items and countless pieces of pop culture. Plus, it's not at all sexual. Just nakedness. No one laughs at nudity quite like children.
...Or my Nana.

Holy cow, THAT'S the statue our old neighbors had in their yard! (well, a replica, of course)

But the fountain didn't work on theirs, so it looked like it was doing... something else.
I personally loved it, but I know some neighbors complained 😂

Me too. I'm not an avid history buff or anything like that, but there is some historical art that I do like. Some statues were dropped from New Horizons for some reason. I had planned on placing certain historical buildings and statues in the correct location of my island. What I mean is that if a building or statue was placed somewhere in the north, and another in the southeast or something, I was going to arrange them onto my island that way. Would've been tedious, but probably really cool.

I can't tell you how many famous works of art I learned about through Animal Crossing games!

Or how much about Japanese mythology I've learned from learning about different Pokemon (to the point where I saw Luna for the first time and was like "Neat, a Baku!").

Video games can be great for learning random trivia!

Ah, yeah, I think they have a replica of that statue in Belgium and they sometimes clothe it for some reason. I personally don't think it's something that should be complained about. Nudity is natural. I'm not sure how we live in a world where nudity is more taboo than violence.

Well, that's interesting but..

I think it's weird though when people make a big deal over nudity though. I feel like Michelangelo's David should at this point be real common and not given a second glance?

I dunno. I think I'm pretty numb to see naked bodies. Anyone who has drawn nude bodies for 6 hours understands.

Nintendo should've added the Barberini Faun to give people to flip out over.

Animal Crossing is definitely one of those games that can teach you a thing or two about something. Pokémon, despite me not playing those games anymore, taught me a few things when I was growing up. Parents at the time, and maybe still, would say that video games taught you nothing. Sure, some may not, but there are some that do.

Yeah David is one of the most famous statues in the world. Even if you were unfamiliar with Animal Crossing and its art collection (that's been in every game), you should still be able to look at David and immediately recognize it for what it is instead of assuming Nintendo added it in for nefarious or sexual reasons (not saying your family did this OP, just saying that I doubt Nintendo will censor it)

I just looked that up and... what part of him is supposed to be a faun? I thought fauns had like goat feet? This is just a normal dude letting it all hang out 😂

It's a very big and very famous statue, arguably one of the most famous. I can see why they would want to include them in the game. And I agree entirely, this is art and honestly I think it would have been weirder for them to not depict it how it really is. It's just part of how that statue looks.

It should be especially fine since the pose is not a sexual one and doesn't actively draw attention to its nudity... But as an immature soul myself, I have to admit that I can see the funny side of it. 🙃

@Miss Misty
Oh yeah. This one is a bit unique in depicting satyrs. This one actually focuses on how satyrs are super sexual creatures hence him showcasing the goods, lol. He's sitting on a goat pelt, so that's the metaphor of him being a faun. It's kind of hard to see.

It's been awhile since I studied this piece.

He has goat horns and a tail. The faun with goat legs is more fairy tale than Roman Mythology.

The statue of David is one of the greatest works of art in the western world, so it's cool that Nintendo has included it. Also, the beautiful statue is showing her breasts and part of her bottom, so she's kinda naked too. And the moving painting has a partly naked Venus. They are all wonderful works of art.

I have some of the statues in a garden near Freya's house and one day I was looking for her to give her a gift. I found her behind David, staring up at his bum appreciatively. That was pretty funny. :)

Ahh, I apologize if I did offend anybody with this post. I felt it was all in good fun and that they had a good time watching me play. As a person who loves to draw and paint on occasion myself, I love art and find all forms of it beautiful. My parents on the other hand, they can be very different aha.

I just thought the reactions from my family were interesting since I know how they are and with them seeing the Gallant Statue, knew it would be a shock to them as it was something they just wouldn't expect in a game that looks with how it does, with it being very cute in style and of course, an old school game I've played since I was a kid so they have an image painted already of expectations and wouldn't hsve expected Nintendo to dive so deeply into maturity. Overall, again, I apologize if their behavior wasn't appropriate to the reaction of something that is once more, very natural and beautiful.

I feel bad posting this now...
