Yeah, I would also go with the XL. the battery is better. It might not be that much of a huge battery life difference with 3DS games but its still noticeably better. the battery when playing regular DS games is tons better as well.
of course, there's larger screens, and the stylus is on the side and its not the telescoping one so taking it out is much better than the regular 3DS. I hated both the stylus placement and stylus itself in the original.
The Start, Select and Home button are bigger and more responsive and the XL fits in your hand nicely. I have sort of smallish hands compared to most and it was a little uncomfortable at first, but now it's as comfortable as ever. If you have large hands, definitely get it. The pixelation is barely noticeable, and the 3D on the XL is even better than before in my opinion.
It's smart if you get the XL with a bundle. I was originally going to wait for a black XL but when I saw the Mario Kart bundle I couldn't resist. If there's an animal crossing one get it asap. I would definitely get an XL because I'm sure animal crossing on a bigger screen will be awesome.
