In game rules regarding museum donations?

So for me, in this game, I like to catch all my bugs and fish on my own island (not others islands or mystery islands as can be in different seasons and I wanna be patient). I don’t buy art off others either, I wait to collect it myself. However never really thought about fossils as I probably have collected them off mystery islands before. Does the current season on an island impact what fossils are found? Or totally random, or what? Do you collect fossils found on mystery islands, and if so, do you collect fish and bugs too from mystery islands? Interested to know, thanks!

Fossils are random and don't depend on season.

I collect them on both my island and mystery islands. The fossils are random, though, as the user above me stated.

Like the other user said Fossils are random they do not get impacted by different season changes. As for Bugs and Fish if you want to collect them more frequently and not want to time travel you'll have to use Kapp'n Tours for that one but its RNG to weather or not you get a different seasonal island.
