Hello everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I see this shirt in the store, and I know it says "blessed" underneath, but I'm doubting all this just means that one word lol. Have no idea how to google this either. So just curious what it all says, anyone?

Thanks!

do you know what language that is?

I googled how to say "blessed" in Japanese and according to Google there are 3 ways:

祝福された

恵まれた

あのいまいましい

The second way is the beginning of the phrase on the shirt but it's not the full phrase. I don't know how to tell what the full phrase is. I'm sorry I wasn't more help.

This is whats on the shirt:

And then I did that thing where you reverse english with Japanese a few times and it ended up with this:

So my theory is what's on the shirt means "Blessed" like the modern streetwear version and the other forms of blessed mean like Bless-ed like the Blessed mary or a different religious usage (It probably doesn't actually mean I was blessed, which is why I reverse searched it), but I also don't speak Japanese at all so I'm guessing, but yea it means Blessed

You were indeed ninjad! lol!

In japanese, you don't need the pronoun all the time. Just the verb on its own, the listener will assume that it applies to you, the speaker, and yes, on the tshirt is literally just the polite past tense of blessed.

恵まれる

This is the plain form of the verb to be blessed. In this form it means "to be blessed/will be blessed" (there is no future tense in japanese, the listener has to infer from context)

恵まれました

This is just the past tense, polite version of the verb. I think people who can't read japanese assume it's a lot, but it's really not, It's only 6 characters, blessed is also only 6 characters.

Also, a note. This probably seems strange because there are a lot of pieces of clothing with japanese writing on them. The purpose isn't what it actually says, it's just that people think japanese writing looks cool, so they'll put random things on tshirts. A japanese person would probably think this tshirt was a bit weird maybe.

Oh my goodness, thanks so much everyone for putting in the time to research and let me know in so much detail, I've definitely learned a lot from this.

@Valzed: Oh no this is plenty, thanks so much my love c':
@Jacob, Wildtown, & Warrior: So it's a phrase then, would've never guessed! Thank you!
@moonbyu: Thanks! I got it from a discount store called "DD's Discounts", it was literally less than $10 <3
