Is anyone buying a version other than the North American one? I'm looking for people to friend for foreign holidays and events. Someone in Japan would be especially welcome.

Are foreign holidays confirmed?

EDIT: at least 1 member on these forums lives in Japan, and would likely be playing with a Japanese copy.

Though as far as I know, games aren't region locked, so I'm not sure if that includes regional DLC.

Even if there aren't region-locked holidays, there might be store or brand collaborations.

now that you mention it, maybe thats the reason holidays are updates? for example some updates could only be avaiable in japan because that holiday is only celebrated there.

to the OP: i will get a german copy but like JKDOS said it doesnt really matter because all copies are the same in the end

I will have an English copy of the game but I don't think we will have any special events that will differ from the American version.

I'm buying the game in Sweden so I would be disappointed if there is no midsummer celebrations. :p

I don't know if they'll do different regions the same way that they did previously because the Switch is region free. They might base it off of the language that you set your game to. Like if there's Japanese holidays, then setting your game to Japanese language would get those.

i’m not sure if there are foreign holidays this time around but it’d be cool if there were

It would be nice because those holidays did encourage people to trade and visit each others' towns more. But yeah... right now, no indication either way.

I guess we'll find out. It would be cool if every region got all the holidays from around the world.

I got a Japanese copy because I want the bento box. Will be sure to invite people for exclusive events if there end up being any

Will also play the German Version of the Game, but there weren't any exclusive Holidays for Germany in New Leaf, if I remember correctly. Except for when Mother's Day is celebrated.

I think the Berliner item was a German exclusive before Welcome Amiibo.

I'm in Australia, I think we may have a whole region but I'm not entirely sure. I don't count on any exclusive items to ^^'
But I will be in the southern hemisphere!

You sound like you genuinely think that the whole world lives in the US.
Of course lots of people will buy the other versions.

Would be a huge bummer if they didn't continue doing regional holiday's/DLC. I think with the Switch, getting regional items would definitely be a lot easier since you could ideally just make a different regional account to access them.

Would be much easier if they just added all of the holiday's into the game for everyone to experience, no matter the region. It would be weird if Nintendo just completely ignored their Japanese audience and their Holidays...so I'm sure they'll make it work somehow.

While the Switch generally isn't region locked, Splatoon is because of regional content. If there will be regional content in NH we have to assume it will be the same here. We already know the supported languages aren't the same for all regions (NA has a lot less languages), so the copies likely aren't the same.

I remember from a previous thread that multiple people on here want to get the japanese version (and are from Japan). I'll get the German/European version.
