Is clay rarer?

Is clay rarer than iron nuggets and stone in a rock? It seems to be based on my experience but I can’t find the information or data anywhere on it.

According to the Companion Guide, Clay is more rare on your island (15% compared to Stone's 50% and Iron's 24%).

However, it's much more common on Mystery Tour islands with Clay at 41%. Stone is a mere 8% and Iron is also raised to 50%.

So I'd recommend giving the Mystery Tours if you want more Clay, but you'll still find Iron about half the time.

keep an eye out for blue (i think?) balloons, they drop clay pretty often for me

Basically this. Gold ore is 1% chance on both your own island and mystery tours, unless you get the gold ore island.

FINALLY I know why I keep getting overrun with iron and clay when I’m looking for stone on mystery islands. I wish the rate was more like 15% with how much stone most rock diys need...

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the distribution rate. I thought they all shared the same rate, like 33% each, then gold ore is like 1%.

from my grinding experience, clay is the the second uncommon out of the materials you can get out of a rock. The most uncommon being gold. That is why i always buy clay from players instead of grinding.
