I was browsing through my recently-cataloged songs and found Comrade K.K, upon further examination I discovered K.K. is shown to look like "Big Brother" or the main source of 1984's government. They also refer to each other as "comrades" as in many other George Orwell books...

It's funny, because I JUST finished reading this book as my assignment...what a coinkydink.

It references Soviet Russian music, and is stereotypical communist music. Communists frequently call each other "comrade".

That's a fun parallel to consider, and 1984 is a fantastic novel (one of my favorites). However, I think in the case of Comrade K.K., the "reference" is more to Russia and the Soviet Union (judging by the sound of the music and the album's cover) rather than George Orwell's novel. Since 1984's dystopian setting lacks the traditional Russian elements parodied thematically in the K.K. song, it's doubtful that it's a direct nod to Orwell.

Additionally, Big Brother is described as having a huge mustache in the novel, so I'm sure care would have been taken to depict K.K. with a mustache should that have been the inspiration. :)

Ahh...OK. I thought it might be too specific, since 1984 does taunt the communist government though, it makes sense.

And yes, 1984 is an awesome novel...if not being a tad depressing xD
