Is it worth it to buy a 2nd copy of the game?

Okay this may sound like a strange question but, lately this has been on my mind recently and I am not sure I want to do this or not. I know have a digital copy of ACNH and I was able to redownload it to my 2nd switch and still play it, but what really bothers me is the limitations of that. Like say if I wanted to play with my other users the game just tells me this error and according to Nintendo Support it says that "This error code most often indicates play of downloaded software was paused because your Nintendo Account was used to play downloadable content on another console."

Which means that everytime I want to play on a different account I have to always reregister my switch, just to play on the other account that doesn't own the game. I have been doing this for over 5 months and its starting to get to the point where its so repetitive. I already have a 2nd account with a 2nd online membership but I realize that I need a 2nd copy of the game to even do Island Transfers or Local Play when using the airport. This situation has been driving me crazy and I am not sure what to do at this point.

I am not sure if I should get a 2nd digital copy of ACNH or a physical copy of the game instead, does it make a difference? I don't know I feel stuck about this. This is one of the things that I was unable to do when having my 2nd switch and it was really bothering having to deregister and register my switches just to play the game on different accounts. So I guess what I am trying to ask is, Is it worth it and what are the benefits? I feel stuck at this point.

Depends entirely on how much you value 60-85$ (if you want the DLC on both too).
I'd personally do it.

I know that you can play the DLC on the other account that doesn't the own the game as long as its set as the primary console. Thats how I was able to have a 2nd island the first time when doing this and it was no issue.

If you can get a copy that was preowned and/or at a steep discount, I say go for it. I have two copies of the game and it was the best move for me.

I have 2 switches and 2 copies of the game.
Its very worth it to me!

No stress, no errors.
Just simple interaction

And what if you end up getting the error because of the DLC, even if you buy a second copy of the game?

Well I do have another game called Pokemon Shield and I remember buying the DLC on my main account (Sora) and then I remember using the another account (Roxas) who never owned the game was able to play it along with the DLC, because I was able to redownload it using my other account who bought the DLC and I still had my 2nd switch set as primary.

If you feel like you are going to continue playing both and it's frustrating to switch between them right now, I would say it's probably worth the convenience of getting another copy.

Physical or digital is a tough decision. I like the convenience of digital and not having to insert the cartridge, but it would be nice to own a physical copy of the game. The game has sold so many units though that even if you don't buy a physical copy now, it will always be easy to find preowned copies for lower prices in the future.

Hmm the digital version is still $59.99 (I'm from America), so if I were to go and get it, will it like replace the current one I have on my switch and it will somehow delete the save data?

Save data is saved to the user account so no matter which method you go with your save data will be fine.

Oh okay thats a relief. So now I have the 2nd copy of the game. What are some of the things I am able to do that I could not do before? I think Island Transfer and Local Play airport was one of the things that the game prevented me from doing.

I love having two copies of the game. I like playing both at the same time. This way I can visit my other island. With local play you can switch your villagers. One of the reasons I wanted a second copy was so I can move some of my villagers to my second island so I didn’t lose them.

Yeah I did hear you could do that and I also heard that if you move a Resident to like a new island, but they still have their home and stuff with them they become the new Resident Representative. This was something I wanted to try for a long time but I was unable to do it because of the error telling me how both games were being played at the same time.

Yea you can move residents to a new island. If you are starting a new island you can move one of your residents to that island and they will be the island rep.the good thing about moving a resident from an existing island is they keep their terraforming.

Well this all sounds good but like I mentioned the digital copy is still like $59.99 and I feel like that is so expensive.

Yea 60$ is still expensive.for me it was worth it. I have two physical copies. Maybe you can find a used copy a little cheaper at GameStop.

If it is something you really want, I would make a trip online to Ebay for a used copy and save 10-20 bucks. There are people on there selling their copy even after the update announcement.

Eh I don't know. I've had a bad experience with Ebay before and I don't trust scalpers.
