Is reselling a collectible wrong?

So what should I do so it doesn't irk or offend people? I really want to know.

I wouldn't worry about offending people. They have the right to be offended, and you have the right to offend them. Being offended is a choice, so if they have a problem with you, they have a problem. Not you.

To me, once you bought something you own it. It's yours to do as you please. If I willingly sell something or give it away I can't tell the person receiving the item how they can use it. That's borrowing, not giving.

But I get why it upsets people when you just throw away or turn around and sell what they gave. It's hurtful. Someone went through the trouble of getting you what you asked for, and to see that you don't even appreciate that stings. All their hard work seems wasted. It's just rude. Generally people are nice and wait a while, and if they do resell they try to make sure it's not for an enormous profit. There's a difference between making a profit and scamming.

Ironically, the only time I buy out the shop, is to stop people buying out the shop.

But so I can individually hand things out to stop them being hoarded. /is biased about hoarding super limited edition things

go buy out つの森 for me next time, will you?

Ok I have been buying and selling with you. You do try to make a profit but don't put the price too high. I remember selling you that blue candy. I bought it for 4 k and made a 500 TBT profit on it. You bought it then in your thread you were selling it for 5.5 k if I remember. I am mad for you selling collectibles for a way higher price then I sold it to you. But it is allowed, it just gives you a bad reputation. Everyone will know you as a low bailer and then no one will want to sell anything to you.

And do not offer collectibles you don't have.

I'm not trying to hurt Daniel, please do not take it this way. I simply want no part of his version of selling anymore. I don't want to see my hard earned collectibles be bought and sold like meaningless items. I'm selling my memories, I'm offering others to have the more sought after collectibles and I want to be fair in my deals. I'll even sell lower than what I bought them for if I know people really want them. Collectibles bring joy and happiness, and I feel like those things are being sucked out of them by his tactics, thus I no longer wish to have business deals with him.

I completely agree with what you're saying, but I think you guys are kind of jumping on this one person for doing things I've seen lots of other people doing. Not so long ago, there was a very popular user, that I think most of you were friends with. She had 10 of a VERY popular collectible, and made a "giveaway" post that ran for well over 2 weeks. She had people jumping through hoops and posting crazy to win the giveaway, and it was an embarrassing circus. But since everyone was friends with her, no one called her out on it. She also had a hustler mentality, and at that time no one thought anything of it.

I'm just saying, most of us try to keep it fun. But if someone wants to be an entrepreneurial about it all...well, we can't really get upset at them.

I know who you are talking about, and I am not friends with her. I've spoken with her, but we are not friends. I won't post what I think about her actions when dealing with the giveaway. I'm a firm believer of keeping things simple. I've also done giveaways and they were fun, simple and to the point. Guessing games, that's how I do them.

I was friends with Karen. I'm not calling anyone out but he asked for my opinion so....

He did ask, which I find commendable. At least he cares to not annoy people. And I agree with most of what you guys are saying. I'm just saying that I've seen a lot of people criticize him for doing things that others have done too and no one ever criticized those people's actions.

I criticize anyone who feels it's okay to bully others into doing what they want. Daniel already knew I disapproved of his actions, this is not the first time I have told him to stop. But when he started to bully a member who is hospitalised into a sale they had said "no" to many times, I had great issue with it and found that to be my final straw. This all came to be because I told him to stop bothering the member and that I would no longer do business with him, that simple.

How people conduct themselves on TBT is their own business, but if you see someone bullying or harassing other members, speak up. That is the only way there will be change. And that is what I did. I spoke up. I'll be damned if I let someone think bullying will get them what they want.

If I feel like someone is doing something wrong, I speak up.

I think maybe you should tone your pestering down a bit. Sorry if I am being rude but you once sent me a PM out of the blue asking if I would sell or trade my Chocolate cake collectible and that made me very uncomfortable because I have never even once posted about selling it or anything of the sort. But you tracked me down and asked if I would sell it....... that was really creepy.

You're absolutely right, that kind of behavior is wrong. I'm glad you spoke up about that. I only meant the fact that he buys low and sells high, hoards things and/or tries to make deals, etc. But harassing people is not ok. The giveaways like yours, I respect. But his just reminded me of the other one I was speaking of, that I thought was also a bit mean-spirited.

IDK, I'm not really defending him. I hope he hears what you guys are saying, and tries to play in a more fun and friendly way.

I did feel a tiny uncomfortable after you asked if I would sell a letter I had and offered like 600 tbt less then what it was originally going for

We have a collectable thread. If it's all going to be continuously fought over, then there's a good chance they're probably just going to be removed from the equation.

Everyone needs to be respectful to the people they're buying or selling from, or in the future the option to sell or give away your collectables will not exist. Simple as that.

Also use the other thread.
