Is this a bug?

I've been having issues with NPCs no longer showing up on my island. First it was Joan and I just assumed I'd missed her. Then today, I got an announcement from Isabelle that CJ was around but... nothing. I searched EVERYWHERE, including behind buildings and trees, and no sign of him. My villagers also didn't mention him. What's up with this? Is anyone else having similar issues?

Do you mean Daisy Mae? Joan isn't in the game (asides from amiibo in the roost). I haven't had issues with npcs, but they do sometimes like to hide. C.J. will appear anywhere near water, even if it's 2 spaces of water on a tiny cliff you have hidden away.

It's possible he might be behind cliffs. If you go into terraforming mode, when you go behind cliffs, the camera will let you see behind it more than when you're not in that mode, so you might try searching for him while wearing the hard hat, in case he's behind some cliffs or something like that.

wait you get announcements from Isabelle? That's so cool! why hasn't my Isabelle made any announcements? the fastest way to find the NPC's when you can't find them is to play with your sub characters. then they usually appear somewhere more visible. hope this helps!

Maybe you haven't had any visitors that she would talk about since the update, I don't think she mentions K.K. Slider, Daisy Mae, Gulliver, or Label. At least, I know I had those visitors, and I don't remember her mentioning them, though she did definitely mention that Leif was in town today. Possibly some others are ones she doesn't mention. Or maybe you need to close out of the game completely to let it sort of reload everything properly, rather than just leaving the software suspended, in case you've been doing that.

She definitely mentions K.K. Slider and Label, and gives a PSA about "what to do if you find a person passed out on the beach" on days when Gulliver/Gullivarrr shows up (dunno if the announcement is different between the two).

That being said, these announcements don't seem to take priority- if you have, say, a new villager moving in, a camper, etc. she will announce those and not discuss the others, similar to meteor showers.

Nah, I remember her distinctly mentioning KK and Daisy Mae this Saturday/Sunday for me. She didn't mention Gullivarrr on Friday for me, but I believe the Roost opening overrode that.

That make sense! she did have annoucement about a new villager so that's probably why! thanks you two

I think that Isabelle always discusses the initial visitor on your island. I had Redd today, for instance. Isabelle put out a warning about fake art being purchased on a sketchy ship in the past, and advised the town's residents to buy art with care, haha. However, she doesn't appear to mention additional visitors because she only announces once a day, so that's sort of a caveat. IE: You get Redd visiting your island, but then get Celeste that evening. Isabelle will not mention Celeste's presence because she already announced earlier in the day.

Ahhh, that explains it! The Roost and a camper and probably something else definitely happened in the last few days for me. My mistake. ^o^;>

Yeah, sorry, I meant Daisy Mae. And no, they weren't anywhere. I don't have any water spots hidden away :/

I checked the tiny spot I have hidden behind cliffs and he wasn't there. Like I said, I searched pretty much everywhere for them and didn't find them either time.
